Ginger, they didn’t make this decision on their own. For sure the palace / officials were leaned on.

I believe (from what I’ve read admittedly) that the palace specifically stated that any events should not be expected to be cancelled but the final decision could rest with the governing bodies.

I'm just cynical enough to think that the EPL were motivated to make the call because of potential reputational, and therefore financial, damage to "the product".

I know. Remember all those people who are going to freeze this winter and be put into fuel poverty, and all those businesses that were going to close? Thankfully that's not important any more.

What's far more important is that we do nothing for two weeks and the prime minister holds the new kings hand for a couple of weeks as he tours these islands.

I'm sure nobody is that thrilled by the situation though after COVID it probably seems like a walk in the park? Which is about all folk have to do this weekend

Seriously, hope whatever stayed open - shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants etc. - got a wee boost in numbers as a result of this.

Just cannot believe the blanket coverage and virtually no news of Ukraine, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Flushing Meadows etc.
