One reason might be that he wouldn't need to uproot his family, though that would presumably also apply to Huddersfield. Another might be that he sees Derby as ultimately having more potential than the other clubs.

Using Spart’s rule of large numbers, we must be getting dou a decent gaffer sometime in the next 25 years?
And, by the same logic, quite possibly a considered and intelligent post by Spart.
More chance of us winning the Prem I’d say Vidal ….
Given we’re under a pretty strict embargo regarding spending, I’d bet that LR has been offered a job at BHA, thus forcing DC’s hand?
I'm really sorry if Liam is to be replaced. OK our away form has been poor over a long term but there are plenty of signs that it could improve. Our home form is great and the football a joy to watch. But it seems the decision has been made and either LR has been put back into coaching or has asked to be put back (which seems unlikely.) Whatever, we fans have just got to accept it.
We have to assume David Clowes had all along intended to appoint a new "permanent" manager sooner rather than later such that the term "interim" clearly meant just that - LR to recruit players and tide us over the first ten games and then be replaced if there should be anyone out there who could be suitable.
Warne seems to be an old-school manager - all hard work and bullying tactics which have worked for him in the past but we have a team including footballers already honed or being honed into the modern way of possession-based tactics. If it's to be Warne I hope he can adapt and come up with some sort of compromise - ie, football but backed up by a more steely approach when needed. But can LR adapt to working under this sort of manager or is he more likely to move on? Would Warne retain our current coaching staff or bring his own in? Would the EFL business plan allow us to spend money on cancelling some contracts and dishing out new ones?
Loads of questions to be answered.
Well at least Liam managed a lot longer at Derby than his dad did at Torquay.
Warne confirmed according to BBC
So like when Clough left and McClaren was appointed immediately. It was all planned weeks before. Hope Clowes isn't going to make a habit of sacking managers. That was one of the things which took us to the brink under MM.
Hope you are right Spart. The difference so far is that LR was not the manager but a head coach acting as interim. So this one change of "manager" is not your normal sacking and does not have to mean DC is another MM.
Clowes didn't choose Rosenior to be manager. He bought the club not long before the start of the season, with no previous experience of running a football club. I suppose the only sensible thing to do at that stage was to let Rosenior hold the reins while he took stock of the situation. We can only asume that he has now taken stock and made a strong decision about how best to take the club forward. All we can do as fans is to hope he has got it right.
Blimey. Never expected that to happen. But never a dull day at DCFC.
I was prepared to give LR a good crack of the whip. It seems like he might well be staying on as Head Coach / Asst Manager but until there's an official announcement we dont know what the situation is / will be.....but it all seems like a done deal and that Warne was wanted by other clubs too. Cheers. Terry . UTR
I don't think anyone was expecting this news! From what has been said about DC, I don't think he makes rash decisions, but what do I know!?
Okay, I've slept on it, mulled over everything that's been said BUT I just can't seem to get excited or feel any positivity over this decision or appointment ( in fact has he officially been appointed?)
He's got a great record at L1 level but it's a double edged risk for me. We remove a coach , due to their style and level of performance prematurely for somebody who offers substance.
The new appointment doesn't necessarily have the type of players he wants, what's their philosophy over youth given that's what we've blooded in to this squad for the best part of two and a half years?
Will several players need to be signed to support Warne's style of play?
What about the players who signed for Rosenior? Roberts certainly, Hourihane, Chester do they feel let down by this call?
I'm concerned by this decision as I don't see Warne's appointment as a long term plan but to just get us up.
There were some interesting comments on RD by the ever engaging conversations of Darren Robinson. On discussing Liam Rosenior, KPIs , it was mentioned if his style of play was for the betterment of the squad ( not sure if I've worded that correctly) or to reflect his own brand.
Darren's interesting views are that Rosenior's style of play was to improve his own profile comparing him to the current Swansea manager in terms of Rosenior's style would appeal to teams like Swansea, Brighton etc ...( Passing) and someone who had a more direct approach would not have the same appeal but would be more effective. It was interesting and not the type of conversations you'd be privy to a few years ago.
Feeling downbeat today due to the latest actions by the club. What's everyone else's views? Do you feel positive on reflection, disappointed , angry ? Do you see this decision as firming up our chances of promotion given Warne's record?
Warne has three promotions to the Championship and three relegations to Div 1 on his CV. Obviously keep him for a season to get promoted then sack him. Better still give him a one season contract.
I always prefer teams who know how to keep hold of the ball. Hate it when we are passed off the pitch. Watching players chasing shadows for 70% of the game is very frustrating.
Remember the disaster when we changed to a counter attacking team under Nigel Pearson.
It's officially official now ... on DET.
"Warne, who has signed a contract until 2026, will also be joined by key members of his Millers backroom staff with Richie Barker moving to become his assistant, while Matt Hamshaw and Andy Warrington are first-team and goalkeeping coach respectively."
So if Liam is not first-team coach what is his role?

Fifth in command by the looks of it, (think Prince Louis)
Until 2026???? Derby fans to tolerate a hoof ball style of play for 3.5 years?
How long did Rowett last before the grumblings began about his style of play?
From a former player under Warne:
"He gets unfairly tarnished with that direct tag," Collin continued. "They've got the ball down and played out from the back this season and when they get the ball into the middle third and final third, they've played some really good technical stuff."
Cheers FInland.
If that proves to be the case then great. If he brings success in terms of L1 title (or promotion via the other spots) and the trophies available at L1 level, fantastic for us and a great call by Clowes.
At present I've just got this gnawing feeling that we've appointed someone that's possibly not the best fit with this group of lads.
Hope I'm wrong and he turns out to be a double promotion winner in the next two seasons! (Without the Billy Davies impact.)
He also said:
"First and foremost he is a great guy and one of the best I know in football," said Collin. "He's honest, he will tell you how it is even if you don't like what he says at times. But players appreciate that. He's approachable which is so important as a manager.
"There are some that you come across that aren't, but he will get the best out of the players, I've no doubt about that. At Rotherham I played under Steve Evans which could be quite tough at times, but Paul united the dressing room and kept everybody together.
He's just a really good guy and a brilliant manager."
"He wanted the players to be fitter than everybody else in the Championship and they are. That brings success which as a player that's you want. I always thought he would get a big opportunity purely because of the character he is and I am sure the Derby dressing room will love playing for him."
Sounds promising ....
Desi, my view is that some League One or Championship club will soon end up with a very bright young manager destined for higher things. I cannot see LR staying on as a number three coach or Academy coach, can you? Presumably, Bucko, Walker and Pearcey will also leave given Warne has brought all his main coaches with him so this must be a very costly change for DCFC.
For what it's worth (not much, I suspect) I have watched some highlights of Rotherham games from this season on You Tube, each game being given about two minutes. From these, I would say that R do not seem to be a hoofball outfit. They were full of running, sure, but some of the football looked good. What is encouraging are comments from former players who really rate Warne - very important to maintain the Derby spirit and togetherness.
So while I'm very disappointed I don't feel too down-hearted. If the players and fans get behind the new management then things could take off. So much depends on the style of play Warne will want from his new team.
