Nobbler Sassoon will recall that we had a Paul Warne in the line-up for Vidal Sassoon F.C. in 1982. We called him Warty Warne, though as far as I know he wasn't unduly warty, or if he was, it wasn't on the parts that show. Wasn't this chap though.
Really don’t get the negativity towards this appointment, playing out from the back was a huge gripe from rams fans week in week out, now suddenly it’s hoofball football that we have to endure, if there was a league for whining we’d be PL no probs.
Let’s face it we haven’t scored an away goal all season, let a 2 goal lead slip and scored two late winners at home being a goal down in both with opposition being arguably the better team in both.
Whilst I like Liam as a person this league does not suit his “style” of football plus he appears to have his favs, saying how much the likes bird has grown as a man and handed him the vice captaincy, silly move and too much responsibility for someone still so young when we have lots of experience in the team.
Let him do what’s he’s supposed to do play football without the add on’s.
I think the hoofball label that warne has being branded with is because he likes big strong physical type player, something that we’ve seriously lacked for years now and if memory serves me right have played us off the park several times and not by launching balls into the box.
I think it’s a brilliant appointment and just a the right time whilst we are well within striking distance with the ones above.
I think the anxiety arises not so much about Warne as such but because we thought the days of a trigger-happy owner were behind us. What got us into this almighty mess was Morris hiring and firing successive managers on a whim and without thought of a consistent style. Each successive manager inherited a group of players that didn't seem to suit him, so ended up buying a load of overpriced new ones.
Hopefully this has been well thought through by Clowes and is indeed the long-term appointment that the length of contact suggests.
I am thrilled to bits with this appointment. It would appear that talks and negotiations have been going on for a while, hence the speed that Rosie was relieved and a manager and his back room staff have been appointed. I was never a fan of Clement, Pearson, Cocu, Rooney or Rosie, but I got 100% behind my team everytime I went to see them . The same will apply with Warne, although I have a soft spot for him as he did a PGCE at the University of Nottingham, the same as I did. I am introspectively optimistic about getting out of this league this season.

As I said earlier either sack him if we get in the Championship or offer him a one season contract. You can't argue with logic of that. His record in Div1 and the Championship are there for all to see.
Spart, you are fond of saying that coaching has little effect on the outcome and that it is all about the players. Maybe Warne's problem is that he hasn't been able to sign players good enough to compete in the Championship.

he hasn't even been able to keep some of the 'better' players who helped get them promoted (although maybe that has been a blessing in disguise for him as Rotherham haven't been too bad this season, and different players suit different leagues)
I’m liking this appointment more and more.
PW seems like a decent geezer.

Yes he would have. We should have kept him, he left a good team. Maybe a bit negative at times……
Perfect scenario would have been Nigel and Simon Clough recruit the rough diamonds and McClaren and Simpson manage the team. Avoid the 'big time charlies' from the PL such as Darren Bent, Tom Ince and recruit in the Clough mould.
McClaren/ Simpson appointment - now that brought joy to the city.

My son texted me with the news that Liam was sacked and Warne was employed till 2026. He explained that it was the year 2026. not 26 minutes past 8! Boom boom, it's the way he tells them.
I thought Nigel Pearson was an excellent appointment. Then I saw his team play. Then Vidal told me I was being ridiculous when I suggested Morris would sack him soon. Vidal has never forgiven me for that.
I expect similar performances under Warne. I think this is an awful appointment. A guy who has three relegations on his CV. I will be happy to be proved wrong.
Anyone thinking Mel Morris was totally irresponsible should look at what Kwasi has just done with the country. He makes MM look like an evangelist for financial prudence. I expect the nation will end up in the same state as DCFC did prior to the takeover. There will be lots of very wealthy people with plenty stashed away in overseas accounts though.
Well. Shaun Barker has spoken well of PW whenever we've played Rotherham. I think he played with him / under him. I've also read that PW insists that his team are the fittest in the league. So I'm hoping that when he comes on board that we don't flag after 60 mins as we have this season.
Like Chicago, I looked on YouTube at Rotherhams style of play and it doesn't look hoofball to me. Cheers. Terry. UTR
