This is the debate I’ve had with some Liverpool fans before, when Salah is throwing himself on the floor.
Contact alone doesn’t mean it’s a pen. The referee has to be satisfied the extent of the contact was enough to be a foul.
KDB is exaggerating the extent of the contact by throwing himself to the floor.
Could it be a pen? Possibly, but it’s extremely difficult to judge the challenge properly when the player is cheating like that and the most probable outcome is that the referee believed the contact was far greater than it actually was, because of the cheating.
Its a pen. You cant just kick someone

But there is a scenario where you catch someone with a very light kick and it’s not enough to be deemed a foul.
Not a single Fulham player appealed, VAR didn't even check it.
Winston knows best though.
Thought it was a clear pen at the time but having seen the replays this morning, man that is so soft. He barely touches KdB

Thought the lack of protest from Fulham said a lot too, surely they would of pushed for a review given what was at stake?

A review wouldn’t overturn that though.
Doesn’t mean it’s not a clear dive.
It was a blatant dive and desperate, theres contact but not enough to go down especially like KDB did Ref got sold a dive and bought it, VAR couldnt overturn it cause there was contact, not enough for a pen and should have been sent to the monitor for a second look but we know they rarely do if theres slight evidence of contact or w.e. If he'd have gone to the monitor im pretty sure he'd have overturned his original decision.
What makes it worse is theyre letting far worse go in the middle of the park now, dont give soft free kicks a lot of the time. So its even more sad seeing pens given for stuff like that.

Another match day another debate.
Even if they give the pen they still have to book KDB for simulation.

Yet when it's Salah, you say he's 'gone down easy' but it's still a foul, right?
Why do they allow all the irritating holding and pushing at corners and set pieces without giving penalties, but if you brush somebody's leg, they dive 5 seconds later and it's a penalty.
