Wolves v Arsenal Match Day Thread

Yeah I agree regading the defence, I didn't see any real change today. Still silly mistakes, still easily got at when Arsenal upped it a touch. Lembikisa made a hash of the second goal. First goal was way too easy.

Agree on Bueno as well, he is confident for sure but I haven't seen anything to say he is better than Ait-Nouri and certainly not when it comes to getting us up the pitch. Playing well enough though which is why I am happy enough to see him selected whilst showing decent consistancy.

posted on 12/11/22

I think the biggest example with Bueno, is that for the first goal both he and Toti lost their men on the back post; having both been goalside and in good positions when the ball was played through to Fabio Vieira. We had two Arsenal players queuing up to tap it in unchallenged.

Not one person on here or MolMix is mentioning that. It's all just talk about how good they were.

I am not sure Arsenal really ever got out of second gear to be honest.

Yeah, Arsenal didn't play at their best today. A number of their team were ill as well, but they still dealt with us relatively easily.

Kind of puts a dampener on what some people think was a promising performance.

Alternatively the reason nobody on here or molmix are agreeing with you tam is that you are talking garbage as usual

Arsenal are top of the league and we are bottom. What a dampener that we weren’t able to match them

I'm not talking garbage (although I get you feel you have to say that as I have posted it). Watch the goal again. Saka waltzes past Bueno and is waiting on the back post to tap it in. If that was Semedo, everyone would be moaning about it.

If you can't see why Arsenal having 4 players on the pitch suffering with sickness and still fairly easily dispatching us, might slightly take some of the gloss of any positive; the I can't really help you. I never said anything about matching them though, but recognise you have to try to take others opinions ridiculous extremes, because you are too dim to arguing your own case coherently.

I thought we looked better organised tonight, Toti had a good game, Kilman had Jesus in his pocket and Bueno kept Saka very quiet. The problems came down our right though ob thought Semedo was much better than his shat show last weekend. B Traore impressed me again, he seems to improve a bit every week.

One of the most inconsistent refereeing performances I've seen but I've come to expect that from Attwell and we clearly should have had a penalty at 0-0. Plenty for J-Lo to get his teeth in to. Bottom at Christmas is not a good look even if it doesn't mean the same thing this season.

Can't say i am that concerned about relegation. We will be a different side come January.

The penalty was Mike Dean on VAR. He should have overruled the offside and made Atwell look at the screen. We all know he has a big club bias though.

The stuff that got to me was not booking Odegaard for a blatant pull back when we were on the break. Then booking Traore for exactly the same thing a few minutes later. Followed by not booking Ben White for throwing the ball at the linesman after not getting a corner, but then booking Bueno for kicking the ball away. The inconsistency was shocking

Yeah some ridiculous decisions.

It is interesting how Bueno is being hyped so much. Just looking at stats now and he had the worst pass % of any of our players today.

Exactly how will we be different? We need one possibly two proven Premier League goal scorers. As does half the league.

What is going to attract these players to Molineux? The weather perhaps. Which three teams do you see us catching when you look at the table?

Which players in our squad do you identify as having the fight for a relegation battle?

Make no mistake, we are in deep doo doo 💩

Wolves wont be relegated. They are too good. The pen incident? Would be a soft one but I can't deny we were lucky there.

Not sure why it would have been soft. The Arsenal player took out Guedes without getting the ball. It was a stonewall penalty.

We're being linked with a few players Lopetegui worked with at Real Madrid to be fair.

This bunch of players should be doing better than they are and a good manager should be able to get a tune out of them. It's gross negligence from the club that has put us in this position rather than anything else. I genuinely think we'd have been better leaving Lage in charge for the last 7 games until Lopetegui was available.

posted on 13/11/22

Do think the referee was poor last night and gave further evidence to the conspiracy theorists that the top teams get preferential treatment. After two Arsenal players weren’t booked early on I said at the time it was a stone cold certainty that the first Wolves foul would result in a booking. Sure enough not just the first but the second as well. And why var didn’t give us a penalty when the score was 0-0 another sickener

The spell with temporary managers won’t be remembered fondly but credit that we have attacked better than during Lage’s final months. And great credit for giving Bueno his chance. Saka has been outstanding this season but he regularly found himself one on one against Bueno and rarely made any progress. And the emergence of Hodge, Ronan and Lambikisa has given more depth to the squad.

Lopetegui certainly has something positive to work with despite our league position. We remain desperate for strikers and under his management i’m sure we’ll see a better organised defence and start to see the best of Nunes and Guedes

For he was looking for contact more than Saliba touched him with intend. But yeah slightly contract were made.

Was at the game last night. In real time I thought it was a certain penalty on Guedes. Saw the replay at half time, absolute stonewall penalty, no doubt at all.

Overall the game seemed to sum up our season - played quite well in patches, couple of bad defensive errors, failed to put our own chances away.

Thought that was possibly Boubacar's best game for us, starting to like the look of him. Guedes is also looking hopeful. I know we've had no strikers all season, but the rest of the squad is definitely better than some in the division.

Optimistic about Lopetegui, but even he won't be able to work any miracles without a couple of strikers at least. It's possible, I suppose, that after Christmas we might have Costa and Jimenez available. Let's face it a couple of seasons ago you would have killed to have those two. Get those two back and add one more then who knows?

Looked at our starting set up and thought to myself, wouldn't it be good to have a quality current England international who could play behind the back 4? Madness.

Agree with all of that wulfrun. If we could get Jimenez and/or Costa playing back to the level they were at two years ago then that would be a huge boost for us. And personally I’d like to see Fabio come back. Still want us to get in another goalscorer though. We look a team likely to get 30 odd goals over the season and we need to be one getting 50 odd goals. We won’t make that jump by just adding one decent striker, we need more than one.

And if Lopetegui has any inclination to moving to three centre backs, then Coady would have been the man to make that work. Indications are that he prefers 4 at the back, but do we have the centre backs and full backs to make that work? Time will tell

At the end of the day, as much as I hated this World Cup break it might actually be the thing that saves us.

Will certainly give the new manager plenty of time to work with the players (who arent at wc of course)

posted on 13/11/22

No doubt this mid season break is a good opportunity for Lopetegui to get to know the players and get his views across. But Villa and Southampton will feel the same, Bournemouth will appoint a new manager soon, and the likes of Everton, Forest, West Ham and Leeds will also be glad of the time to get their act together.

We’re bottom, so we’ve got to try to find more improvement than all of those clubs

Are we allowed to recall Fabio?
