Hwang played well for South Korea tonight. Hopefully he brings that form back with him.

Saiss captaining his country in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Good squad player but shouldn’t be anywhere near our starting eleven.

When did we last make a good signing?

Neves dropped to the bench in favour of Carvalho

It's like watching what might have been tonight. Goncalo Ramos, Joao Felix, Ruben Dias. All players we were linked with and missed out on for various reasons.

Was always hoping we would persuade Ramos to come to us in the summer. Not sure he’ll fit into our price bracket after tonight

That's Ramos well and truly out of our price range then.

Stories in Spain that Wolves may complete the signing of striker Cunha from Athletico Madrid this week, even though he couldn’t officially register until 1st January.

He is 23 with plenty of experience playing in the Bundesliga and La Liga. His record for the Brazilian U23 team is 21 goals in 24 games

Made up for Saiss tonight, Morocco look a genuinely good side and the best African side I have seen in a World cup I think. Very controlled and organised with some genuinely good players.

Spain though, not sure I have seen a team with so little cutting edge since since, well, since Wolves last game.

One team with no more cutting edge than Spain is Morocco. Spain actually had twice as many shots as them in what was a terrible game to watch. Sadly for Spain their penalty taking was even worse than their all round performance

Spain didn't deserve to go through. Although Morocco created little from open play, they displayed a razor sharp cutting edge in the penalty shoot out. 😲

Semi finals: Brazil v Argentina with Brazil to win, and Portugal (probably) v England or France (who knows). Definitely the stand out quarter final.

posted on 7/12/22

Brazil I think will make the semis. Probably Argentina but Netherlands will give them a run for their money in what should be a good game to watch

Portugal will probably beat Morocco but another 0-0 draw involving Morocco is a possible. France v England is a close call. France have the big match winner in Mbappe and good attacking support in Griezeman and Giroud. But over the 11 players, England might be just superior.

19:00 Argentina v Netherlands

All reports point to Wolves signing both striker Cunha and defender Felipe from Athletico Madrid.

Cunha looked a great prospect before suffering from the ultra defensive tactics of Simone at Athletico. Felipe will bring experience to the centre of defence and competition for Collins and Kilman, and nay lead to Mosquera or Tito being given a loan to the end of the season to give them much needed experience

Most reports are actually pointing to us making a couple of signings from Atletico Madrid.

This is what makes me laugh about journalists - especcially the 2nd paragraph - he obviously doesn't read other rumour sites now does he?

Everton have got a ‘better chance’ of signing Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha than Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

What has Phillips said about Cunha?
When asked by GiveMeSport if he believed a move to Merseyside would be more appealing than one to Wolves for Cunha, Phillips was in no doubt that it would be.

He said: “Oh, for sure. Everton have got a good history as a club anyway, and I think what’s more important is Frank Lampard’s pulling power. “If a player is picking between Everton and Wolves, I think Lampard is going to be the standout decision-maker for any player really. We saw it at Chelsea, he single-handedly got players to sign for the club like Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz just with his influence.

“So, I think he can use that again at Everton, especially for a player like Cunha. I think they’ve got a better chance of signing him than Wolves.”

Personally I would question whether Everton and Lampard are a better prospect than Wolves and Lopetegui. Lampard still got a lot to prove as a manager

Wolves game against Empoli today is going to kick off a bit later than expected because the pitch at Marbella is waterlogged and it will be played somewhere else
