*78 would cup final was right up there.
Had everything that this farce wouldn’t even tickle its belly never mind being the best one ever.

Old people stuff. Total and proven corruption in 78. Being old doesn't make you better
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They did a decent ticker tape you’d have to agree thoughπ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aye, cos world cups have been corruption free before and ever since
1970 was romantic and excellence but I accept that each final has its supporters of its time and it is up for debate. Fire in.
1970 was good 4 a hour butt once Brazil went 2-1 up it was very one-sighded

This one was totally one sided until Otamendi’s brain exploded at the 80 minute mark.

Best tournament I've seen and I was born in 1990. More twists and turns than the Monaco GP
The end of the 1966 final provided that classic Ken Wolstenholme piece of commentary that has become part of football folklore. If you are English that has got to be the best World Cup.
Best world cup? 98 was better imo. The final was definitely the best final and probably best world cup game ever. I did miss the vibe of a summer tournament though.
Quite enjoyable in the end but I hope that's the last WC played mid-season, in the Middle East.
There have been 22 World Cup tournaments. Did you see them all? If not then "best ever" is a bit of an uninformed overstatement isn't it?
Yet to see what impact it will have on the rest of the domestic season. There's still plenty of time for a winter tournament to be the worst idea.
Will be interesting to see when the Argentinians actually return to their clubs. We could do with Martinez sooner rather than later but can see him disappear for a few weeks. On top of Varane looking like he may have got injured we might have to settle for slabhead and Lindelof at tue back for a bit
Shame it’s finished, but on to the meat and potato’s. I’ve lost a lot of appetite for the rest of the season, I don’t really care that much.
I cannot see how the World Cup will have had a detrimental effect on any player. Those who were not there will have had normal training and should be injury-free. Those who were there haven't been over-played and have basically had warm-weather training which clubs often do anyway.
I would be suspicious of any player or manager who blames any upcoming under-performance on the World Cup.
Mot of the players have played less football over the last month or so. Still, gimme a summer tournament every time.
All the WC players have played far more games at this point of the season than usual. Add to that a shorter pre season and you should see the effects. I think the Germans/Bundesliga will benefit the most from a short WC and a proper winter breaks.
1986 was great but this one was better.

So you haven't seen that many then.
I used to be a "young people", but only until I left school and joined the Merchant Navy. I grew up very quickly then. I now prefer to be an "older people" as I know so much more. Life can knock the the corners off you and make you a more rounded, well-balanced person if you are willing to learn from it. It is more enjoyable then.
People turning 60 have probably got another 7/8 World Cups to see yet
"Old people" facking hell, listen to yourself.
You pal, are a mere pup who has not seen anything, experienced anything, but think you know it all.
For a start that final you are banging on about was a total non event until the last 10 minutes of normal time. It was also riddled with cheating and bad sportsmanship. Nah, not the best final by a long chalk.

Exactly Steve, he will get the wisdom eventually to see through the media conspiracy against spurs.
“ Fully expecting the 60+ years old people to claim there's been better WC finals than that.”

Not from me. I refused to have anything to do with it. Didn't’ watch a single second.
If it wasn’t for headlines popping up on The Guardian on my iPad I wouldn’t even know it was on - just the way I wanted it to be.
Now, back to proper EPL football, please.
(Pleased for Messi, though.)
Do all 60+ year olds also think exactly the same as Jeremy Clarkson?

Even if Germany had made the finals they'd have a bigger break, the Bundesliga starts on the 21st Jan!..
Think the Premier play at least 3 games and a cup game before they start new!..
