I do like what Jim has said. Whether he would actually follow through is a different matter.
The problem with the Glazers has always been that it is very difficult to make a short and comprehensive argument against their ownership…
…because there are just so many facking sticks to beat them with.
They’ve driven a combine harvester through a bamboo forest and presented us with the sum of their reapings.

If we want a grown up conversation about this takeover we need to dispell any notion that some might have if Qatar, or any other foreign nationals, corporates or State Governments did acquire Man United, then they would operate the business in Mancheter UK, under their own (Qatar) employment and construction laws rules and regulations and ignore any UK leglislation in these sectors.

Do you think the takeover will affect any players that are currently not playing for the club but are still eligible to play?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. I think with the murder money we’ll just buy every player in the world, and win every game 3-0 by default as noone will be able to field any opposition

No, I mean do you think with new owners, we will bring anyone back into the fold that are currently not in the squad?

Agreed. If the Glazers had run the club competently with sustainable investment in infrastructure and modern sporting operations, acknowledging the fans as stakeholders, and not exacerbating the debt repayments by extracting large sums in dividends, things could have been quite different.

Are there reasons why the debt wouldn't be paid off? Tax reasons maybe?
……
Any takeover would clear the debt technically. However it appears (by what I have read) that Ratcliffe is having to go the same route as the Glazers and borrow money to finance the deal, thus incurring debt which he will have to put somewhere, which will in all likelihood be the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hasn't that been confirmed to not be the case though? The debt would go on him and INEOS is what most sources have said.
What we are still unsure of is of the existing Glazer debt is going to be cleared. If not then I don't see many Utd fans wanting Jim.

RR they do. Just read UK based social media forums and football and Man United discussuon groups all over FB and other places like this regarding the potential 'threat' of a Qatari takeover. And Im not going to discuss this with you anymore
I dont want to argue with this tedious line that you insist I might support Qatari working malpractices and corruption. I dont. Im not arguing for them in anyway whatsoever, Straw Man or not. I agree there are literally millions of people out there motivated by islamophobia. Probably in the UK alone.

The prospect of rebuilding/developing Old Trafford in Trafford Borough with hundreds of imported asian (brown) modern slave workers being killed due to inappropriate working practices and cruelty isnt really going to happen.

That's like saying we want Jimmy Saville taking us over but it's fine because there won't be any kids about in the boardroom.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
as I said Barry, Diafol wants this to be a proper discussion thread that you are already and very clumsily trying to derail.
You need better material, my friend. Jimmy Saville and abused kids FFS

He makes a fair point though. We all know that they aren't going to be able to get away with nefarious construction/employment practices over here. But that doesn't wipe away any such practices that have happened in the past.

Elvis, This isnt Qatars first Rodeo in the UK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, but the first one involving ownership of the club we support.

I have literally never seen someone suggesting that a Qatari ownership of United would involve them attempting to run the club based on practices that contravene UK employment laws.
If you want to use a straw-man argument, I'd recommend the racism one, because there are undeniably some people out there motivated by Islamophobia.

Almost helped you understand the issue there, but still not quite getting it. Could get Putin in if it helps you understand? Would you be happy with Putin?

It has happened, in qatar, which is one of the reasons people don’t want them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You do know that they would have to abide by UK labour and employment laws, so stop pretending otherwise.

That’s got nothing to do with it. It’s for what they’ve already done that puts people off.

This thread is about Jim Radcliffe's bid.

It has everything to do with your comment, as there is no prospect of it happening in the UK. You are not stupid, Baz so stop pretending to be.
