To be honest I don't want them happening anywhere and I very much hope everyone on here would agree too. I think the point people are making though is that the UK does have some bad practices of its own. However, it's not the UK state that's buying United.
Like I stated in the OP no billionaire is going to come in a perfectly wrapped package. The best we (I) can hope for is the least not perfect.

If we want a grown up conversation about this takeover we need to dispell any notion that some might have if Qatar, or any other foreign nationals, corporates or State Governments did acquire Man United, then they would operate the business in Mancheter UK, under their own (Qatar) employment and construction laws rules and regulations and ignore any UK leglislation in these sectors.
The prospect of rebuilding/developing Old Trafford in Trafford Borough with hundreds of imported asian (brown) modern slave workers being killed due to inappropriate working practices and cruelty isnt really going to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The construction industry does not work like that in the UK. Even in Qatar, in the Oil and Gas sector, we do not adopt those practices.
The practices adopted were adopted by Construction companies who put profit over the welfare of staff and the vast majority of the construction in Qatar is done by Western companies.
This notion that everyone is Qatar does not care about the welfare of people is wrong and it needs to stop.
I could share a bit more detailed information but will just start with these ones;
https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/2019/03/23/ineos-chemicals-environment-pollution-eu-lobbying/
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jan/21/ineos-faces-legal-challenge-over-plans-for-plastics-plant-in-antwerp
All corporate entities have debt. In fact, a good debt-to-equity ratio is healthy. However, the way the Glazers did it, and the financial fair play rules of football have meant that it has become a hindrance at United. The repayments could be used for stadiums and players. Ineos on the other hand can probably take on the 700 million debt with no issues. Also, the group purchasing the club owning the debt would also circumvent the repayments being deducted from our fair play budgets.
To finish though no matter who ends up buying the club I'll still be supporting them. I'm just expressing my preference for him.
Op, good read and I can accept this.
Myself, I am no politician. I have seen bad in this world starting from us. How Blair and Bush are not in prison first and foremost is astonishing. But here we are with folks trying to lecture others.
For me, it goes without saying my first and only choice is the good Sheikh Al Thani. These guys will wipe out debt, create jobs in Manchester and turn us into a world class sporting institution, which we are no longer. Roof is leaking at OT and toilets filled with urine on the floor. It is embarrassing! Like or loathe Ronaldo his assessment of our facilities should tell you where we are compared to likes of Madrid.
Jim has not got the money!! This idea we make so much and can sustain ourselves is farcical when you consider what needs doing at this club. A new stadium is 2 billion quid.

I don't think anyone has said that though, have they?
We're talking about the Qatari 'state' and the absolutist dictatorship which effectively represents the political executive, and exercises complete control over both policing and judiciary.
There are human rights campaigners and no doubt very many ordinary citizens in Qatar who will be disgusted with many and various actions and inactions of the dictatorship.
Nobody is trying to align all Qataris with the house of Al Thani.

Fair point VC. I hold shares at United and have been looking at the books for a while. For starters regards Dividends, they only started doing this in 2016. My understanding is that they have taken circa £150M from the club in Dividends payments. The debt repayments I personally don't like including this as part of the money "they have taken out of the club" as I personally believe this is just astute business practices. They are potentially about to walk away with 6 billion!

Play nice please!
I'm sure no one on here would want Nazzis, Putin, Savile etc in charge of United!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have we heard from scholay yet?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you heard from your government you swine. I am sure they never knew all these years that Abramovic was Putins best friend but ignored it and happy to receive his money into this country. Imbecile.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Funny you ask, just got off the phone to Sunak, he says the money was just ‘resting in his account’.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good work Baz, doing the good lords work✌️😂

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani would now be "willing to overpay" for Man Utd with a figure close to the Glazers' £6bn price tag after his representatives visited the club this week.
Welcome Sheikh Al Thani to OT!!!

Let me just add this Radcliffe is not capable of even competing wwith PSG in Ligue 1. What hope does he have against City and Newcastle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t think that’s a fair comparison as we generate a fk ton of revenue compared to Nice.
I think Ineos have more than enough money available, given our revenue, for us to compete with the like of City & Newcastle. Hell, we’ve competed with the glazers!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have competed with them based on FFP restraints. We have competed with them whilst they build world class facilities, whereas we are still using the Swimming pool from Ferguson days.
Every top pro sending their kids to City academy, even those that played for united for a reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Glazers debt & dividend payments exceeded 1 billion that’s major facilities improvement.
Personally I don’t want a new stadium, upgrade it as far as we can but I don’t want a brand new one at all really.

This idea we make so much and can sustain ourselves is farcical when you consider what needs doing at this club. A new stadium is 2 billion quid.
..............
Agree with the rest. But my guess is that if you add up all the money the Glazers have took out as dividends, payments to themselves and debt interest payments over their ownership, then you probably wouldn't be that far off a shiny new stadium.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point VC.

I don’t believe a word of that. I’ve dealt with Qataris and whilst they do like trophy purchases, they don’t come out with comments like that at all.

Sat Nav- as romantic as it is keeping OT. We need to knock down this stadium. For a club our statue it is in dire state.

Nah, f-ck Ratcliffe. Just wants to own any PL club. Nice fans hate him. Couldn’t even make them competitive in that league. BOUGHT AARON RAMSEY!!!!!

You don’t think it can be tarted up? It’s just that we have enough seating so it’s not like Arsenal or Spurs. It’s just so much money for what I deem to be not enough in return.
