PL's handling of City's financial doping

Its football. It's as bent and corrupt as it could be at this level. Since the 1990s it's always been about money especially in brown envelopes and these days bags of cash arriving in Northern English cities on camels.

Seems the only way to compete with that is to actually board the gravy train. And guess who might be next?

Negotiations are ongoing
Once the PL board have decide who gets the yacht, and which one gets the Villa in the sun, and which one gets the suitcase full of money, then the matter can be put to bed once and for all

I have been warning of this for years. It is quite telling that Bayern were the only ones to protest against the City ownership, just last week. You all let this happen and continue to let it happen. Cuuunting Saudi owners as well? What are you doing? Why haven't you done anything about this?

If we have to break rules to win trophies count me out.

No way have the PL gone public with this with zero evidence whilst massively damaging their own brand. It makes no sense.

So City are stalling and stalling and just hoping it all goes away? Is that their plan?

The longer this goes on the more ridiculous it becomes. If they are 100% certain that these charges are accurate, and they must be for there to be so many, then dock them 40pts costing them the title and CL football next season. Why are they allowing a doped club to get away with it?

Very weak leadership.

Definitely feels like it doesn't it?

PL haven't gone public like they did without hard evidence. It's a really risky move intentionally damaging your own brand like they did.

The aftermath has been a shambles. Get it done and dusted. If City try to stall then threaten a 3 PTs deduction for every day they delay. Time to grow some balls.

If they are confident about City being bent then they should produce the evidence, let City answer and if found guilty make a fundamental judgement. If guilty City should actually be stripped of all titles and relegated to the Manchester Football League.

And the same should happen to Newcastle Chelsea Man United or whoever choses to go down that road themselves, IF found guilty.

This is the thing though. They are doing that and City are simply refusing to cooperate and attend any hearing.

Probably waiting for an independent review to take over who they can bribe for a few million to make it all go away clearly.

The PL have shown incredibly weak leadership over this. If you come forward with that kind of bombshell then you must ensure that justice is served swiftly. The fact City seemingly can just ignore them and delay delay delay makes a total mockery of the whole thing.

The only thing worse than the farce that is the authorities is the City fan base not just acknowledging that yeah, no doubt we doped our way to the top ffs.

Perhaps because our season ticket holders received an email off the club with information covering most of the charges, that claims they are a complete fabrication based on hacked and altered emails.

There are over 10m emails in total covering every club, an awful lot of shizzle is going to hit the fan when/if this ever goes to trial.

It should also be noted that City have publically stated that they want the matter to be resolved ASAP but the PL are dragging their feet about a date for the hearing.

As for not cooperating, it was interesting to note that bidders for United could have access to the 'Data Room' under strict rules of secrecy - no mobile phones etc and rigid NDA's to be signed.

This is the sort of information City were unwilling to share at the previous hearing because the committee was made up of members of rival clubs but were willing to share with a neutral body.

The FA have dug themselves a hole here in their panic to avoid an independent body investigating their little kingdom, run by the usual cartel.

Bring it on.

I really hope City get found guilty and are appropriately punished for their actions.

Anybody who genuinely cares about the well-being and integrity of the sport as a whole, as well as teaching your kids about the importance of playing fair and playing by the rules in life, should feel the same.

Boris with yet another lie to try and justify how much City have cheated. Show us the email then Boris, copy and paste, or are you just lying as usual?

City should have an immediate transfer embargo at the very least and when found guilty all titles stripped.

I’ll post the emails on the wall of a local Carter & Miller

It was never going to be quick. The PL might have spent years looking into it but it’s not like City have shoddy barristers acting for them. They will stall & delay.

Plus it’s not exactly a small case, these things take time.

Tennis? Can you imagine Novak or Rafa was outed as a cheat and then they just said yeah you can go to Wimbledon or the US open. Carry on as normal chaps.

Great point.

Simona Halep former world number 1, Wimbledon and French Open champ fails drugs test, suspended immediately.

Months on, still awaiting resolution.

The FA are waiting on how much fine money they will make and leave it at that.

Some journalists saying it could be another 2 years before any action is taken. Absolute nonsense. Obviously in this case cheaters do prosper.
———————————————————

This was widely reported at the time the charges were first mentioned so I’m not sure why all of a sudden it’s an issue unless the potential Treble is what the issue is and not the merits of the case and if they are guilty or not.

Secondly, I’m not sure why you compare drug offenses and financial irregularities as the punishments for financial doping are not as well defined as drugs in sport.

I’m not sure what you expect the premier league to do, should they kick City out if the league on the suspicions they have until they close the matter 2 years later?

The accused assured us that everything is above board.

Basically we're guilty until proven innocent. Apparently we've failed a "financial doping" test, even though no evidence has been provided by anyone posting on here, merely hearsay and conjecture.

More likely people are just upset that Arsenal might not win the league, so want some sort of divine intervention to stop us from winning it

SatNav and PinStar are right.

Two things we should know already: One, that these financial doping issues are highly technical, and therefore liable to be challenged on minor details / questions of interpretation in hundreds of places by City's highly capable lawyers. Two, that a club can kill an action against it on the basis of failures in the investigation to follow due process to the letter before even going to the trouble of defending itself against the evidence offered against it. These things take time

The rest is just emotion. Impatience on the part of jealous rival fans. And baseless cynicism.

Can you imagine if world cycling had come out before Lance Armstrong was outed as a drugs cheat saying they had lots of evidence that he was cheating and just let him carry on winning races? No you can't.

Rio was first afforded the luxury of an independent panel then after the decision was made for an 8 month suspension was allowed to play on whilst he appealed.

We all want all sorts of cheating to be eradicated from the game but your bias is incredulous.

Pathetic Boris, making up that he and the 9 other City season ticket holders received emails from the club that says they’re innocent

Remove your name and copy and paste the email then Boris you mug.

What did it say??

‘Dear X, you may have seen the allegations about our financial doping. None of it is true. Honestly. Our revenues are 100% real and legitimate. Carry on supporting us and thank you!’

Great point about how the Independent commission must conduct themselves impartially and meticulously to prevent ruining the case like the drunk OP probably would.

We already know some charges had to be removed or amended meaning there was already some sloppiness on the PL’s part. City May well be guilty if some form of FFP misdemeanors but how the PL handle it going forward is actually more important than the suspicions of a biased United fan.

This case is actually important as it will guide how financial doping must be regulated and punished going forward.

The irony is that some people believe that the run City are on actually started because of the Premier leagues announcement of these 100+ charges

Can you imagine if the key player registration secretary at the FA was also the contract director of City and knew how illegal player payments were being routed as well but kept schtum?

Can you imagine if the FA and PGMOL were riddled throughout with City supporters and obstructed United and others at every opportunity?

+++++

Agree with your first paragraph entirely. It goes without saying really.

Your second point is tongue in cheek. Yes? Because City will be claiming that anyway, won't they.
