The Qataris apparently met with FSG about possibly buying Liverpool before we were on the market.
Big Utd fan that Jassim guy though. 😂

I think something else we need to look at here is the fact that the Shiekh hasn't bid anywhere near as high as we were originally led to believe he would, by all reports. If he really wants the club, he has the means to buy it.
So as much as I have my doubts about the Ratcliffe bid, the bottom line is just that, the bottom line. It's all the Glazers care about and if Ratcliffe values the club higher, then it's up to the Qataris to put up the cash to beat that bid. Rather than just bidding the same value repeatedly
Something doesn't feel right with ol'Jimmy Boy there.

It's not done and dusted yet but I will be happy if we don't have the Glazers in any controlling capacity. I'd rather them not have any shares but as long as it's a minority with no say whatsoever on how the club is ran I can live with that.
We also don't have to sell our soul to the Qataris and be a sports washing vehicle for them so it's even better news.....well for me at least.
Sir Jim is the richest Briton on the planet and has a company with revenues of 60bn behind him. That's a far better deal than being owned by parasites who have about 6bn between the lot of them (before any sale of the club)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True. But if he's willing to keep the Glazers on board, it means that fan opinion is not something he cares one iota about.
He's also not made it at all clear if we will still have the debt. The only statement said there would be NEW debt. Add that to it being reported that he's been in discussions with the Elliot venture capitalists and there are a lot of questions to be answered.
It may well turn out okay but there is very little transparency from which to base an opinion on that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's willing? Sounds to me that the Glazer inbreds want to stay.
I'm fairly sure Sir Jim would be happy with a majority takeover and them being gone too. Why should he care as long as he has at least 51%?
The best news is the Glazers will no longer have any say on club decisions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he's only buying 51% of the club, that means by default they would stay. The point is that by doing that deal, he's shown a willingness to keep them on board and to hell with the fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's actually 69% as we now know and that's all he needs. Them staying as minor shareholders means nada. They don't get any voting power. Nothing.
Sheikh Mansoor has sold off a sizeable chunk of City to far East. He still owns a majority though. That's all that matters.

Yeah Chinese investors first wasn't it and now yanks?
Makes no difference to City at all as long as the Sheikh owners majority which he does.

On the OP, I’d be very surprised if that’s the deal Ratcliffe has gone with.

Yep. Give it a few years and he’ll sell more.

Qatar doesn’t need to “sports wash” FFS. They just held the biggest sporting event in the world. They hold tour tennis and golf and F1 races.

This is a real concern for me. Even if not Liverpool, they will buy an English club and the already very difficult task of achieving regular CL qualification gets tougher still. On the other hand, not being owned by a state isn't something to be too upset about

You really are a simpleton of the highest order if you think Sheikh Jassim is a) the real money behind the Qatar bid and b) they don't want us to help promote Doha and Qatar as a nation.
Of course they bleeding do you insufferable moron.
