Added over 100 now but still not even avoided the follow on yet so a long way behind. Nice to see the Aussies look a bit rattled though and drop a few catches.
Partnership going at over 5 and over which sort of backs going BazBall because it really does rattle the fielding side. Thakur has played a few belting shots but is still yet to really get going like he did against us.
Oh he's gone
Out as I hit send.
Oh he's reprieved as Cummins for the second time gets a player out LBW only to overstep. Brilliant!
Good to see India fighting back against the Aussies. 260-6 at lunch.
Rahane goes for 89. Great catch by Green.
Rahane goes and the rest of the tail follow soon after so they don't even reach 300 despite Thakur getting to his 50.
That Green catch was sensational, just an instinctive grab as that ball was travelling.
India all out for 296, 173 behind.
The problem the India batsmen have is that their preparation for this has mostly been the IPL.
Red ball cricket is totally different in the hands to top class bowlers.
India aren't the best with red ball in English conditions anyway. Its put the Aussies at a bit of an advantage hosting it here.
Expected the Aussies to be more positive in reply here but it looks tough out there. Balls keep rearing up from off a good length and the bowlers have been getting the ball to talk. Other than the Smith/Head partnership, it's been a really good contest between bat and ball.
Almost a shame the WTC final isn't a 3 match series or something which would make more sense for test cricket anyway. This is properly engrossing even with the big runs difference between the two sides. Bowlers on top but the batsmen really grafting hard. Khawaja now gone. Smith now at the crease.
India had a better day yesterday but Australia won the first 2 days with yesterday being more even. India need to win the day to give themselves any chance and that means knocking these last 6 wickets over for about 50 runs to give themselves any chance.
Labuschagne has gone early. 135-5. Lead over 300.
Think they've got enough as there's no signs that the pitch is flattening out. Interesting that despite the lead, the Aussies are looking more to bat time than add runs because the pitch is getting harder to bat on.
There are 6 days in this test match aren't there? The Aussies can afford to bat all day if they can manage it and still have 2 days to bowl India out.
Another bad leave by Aus and Green goes. Lead 350. Looks like Aus are upping the pace.

Plenty of time left even if it was a 5 day test but yes it is 6 days. For some reason I had it in my head that the reserve day was to be used if we have rain delays but I guess we need a winner. Even so, plenty of teams from this position usually look to score quick runs rather than try to hang about. The game just feels like it's drifting a bit due to the size of lead. If it was 100 less, this would be a hugely fascinating passage of play.
In saying that, Carey has upped the tempo significantly since the dismissal of Green.
Interesting how the bookies have reduced the Aussies chances of winning. Down to 4/11 when it was 1/6 at the start of the day yesterday. I can't see India getting near so 6/1 feels a bit short.

It’s still only 5 days.
The 6th day is only to make up for any lost overs.
Unless there’s rain, the game will end on day 5
Cummins is out and that's the declaration. 444 is the target.

Ah cool, that's what I originally thought but then I saw espncricinfo said it was day 4 of 6. I remember NZ winning on day 6 a couple of years ago but there were rain delays.

It'll be very interesting to see how this goes. I expect a couple of partnerships to give India "hope" but probably still fall a good 100-150 short. If India do get close or even win, could be quite scarring for the Aussies especially given how much England like to chase.
Another stunning catch from Green. Think it's the right call and just makes that little session of India's innings an even contest after the start they made. The longer it was X runs without loss the more jittery the Aussies would have got.
Not out for me, ball touched the ground, but difficult to pick-up on replays
