Why should somebody earning above £50k pay 40% of their income to taxes when others get everything for free?
=====
Nobody gets anything for free. The more you derive or extract from society the more tax you have to pay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As someone who grew up with a parent who worked for the then DSS you are talking out of your backside.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More nonsense from you which you dont even bother to explain the rationale behind because you know its nonsense you can't back up.
Shut it! Boy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It isn't nonsense. Plenty of people who can work, choose not to because it either doesn't make financial sense or they just don't want/ need to.
£50k now isn't what it used to be when the 40% threshold was put in place. It's pretty standard to expect to be earning that sum by your mid 30's these days, it essentially stops your personal financial progression and the only alternative is to start your own business to avoid such taxes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What these naive people don't realise is that people will simply stop working at some point as a lot have done. It's all well and good to have a theoretical idea about taxation but when you have lots of bad actors abusing the welfare system then it's obviously going to cause a lot of resentment amongst people who wonder why they bother.

People accumulate wealth for no reason apart from fear of future...
When you die you take nothing with you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It take away a lot of life's stresses and allows you the freedom to pay for experiences and opportunities for you and your family.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No amount of money will ease your stress...
What percentage of people sleep happily in Dorchester hotel compared to an ordinary hotel in Kensington?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know I’m a lot less stressed not worrying about paying my bills, in comparison to 10 years ago going month to month with nothing to spare.
Money isn’t everything (or even close), but life’s a lot easier if you have surplus cash, at least in my experience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surplus cash is necessity as you might get sick.. on other hand, accumulating wealth for future generations is sick..
When you die you leave everything...this is a simple fact

I think you need to direct that at people who are getting rich by conning the system. I could have pointed to several people on my street where houses began at 3/4 of a million that were running a con. One of them was a couple with several children whos claimed they were separted in order to get extra money, they owned about 1 and a half million in properties and were still claiming benefits. Another faked illness for a couple of decades while going off on holidays and spending 100k inheritance on an extension just so they wouldn't be above the threshold.
I have no qualms with people who resent the fact they are getting worked over financially by playing fair. Hard working people are who we need to reward otherwise things will just continue to fall apart.

Correct, however the average person probably only hopes to die leaving their children a house, maybe smaller lump sums as a gift. Nothing wrong with that imo as it allows for a comfortable retirement.

I see a show last night “Ed Stafford - on the street for 60 days”, something to that effect, on 4 catch up.
A lady could’ve worked, decided she didn’t want to. Had a 16 year old and a couple of younger ones.
They had a 5 minute chat about it, Ed encouraging her to set a good example for her kids and get out there.
When I was younger and returned from travelling, I had a 6 month period hanging round with all sorts and there’s plenty of families in similar situations.

2022 mini-budget, we're tightening uc because there are loads of people who are taking the michael.
But yeah lets just accuse everyone of being a daily mail reader when I don't even read broadsheets.
What a plonker
It’s almost as if there was a global pandemic that might have affected the numbers.
It’s almost as if there’s a right wing government in place who want you to believe a certain rhetoric.
It’s almost as if the troll can’t actually prove his point and so just leans on flimsy evidence.
I'm not even reading your posts. You're literally just a filtered message. It's predictable what you're going to say, boring and I can keep you here eternally responding within 2 minutes if I desire.
When every single broadsheet from the guardian to the telegraph has reported that it no longer pays to work and you ask for a link then you're an idiot, period.
You are reading them. You’re even referring to things I said.
Although claiming that you’re replying to me when you can’t even see what I’ve said is even more embarrassing.
The right winger can’t debate his point and is frantically logging in and out of the site to argue with someone he’s filtered.
What a day he’s having.

Bye bye filtered.

The right winger can’t debate his point and is frantically logging in and out of the site to argue with someone he’s filtered.
What a day he’s having.
