What’s happening with the Tillman signing? Reports in Germany that Bayern have decided not to sell him to rangers?!

I thought they couldn’t do that with the exclusive option to buy they had?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oooo, I remember that thread - might be a good search for someone....?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No need really. Suffice to say that many of them simply got it completely wrong and were talking out of their hats. As usual.

A release clause can only be activated if all 3 parties agree. It just sets out the fee in advance. Simples.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My extensive knowledge of Football Manager tells me this is bogus. You can have a minimum release fee. Meaning the selling club can't reject. Player could still reject though.

I guess it could have been a different clause though? Maybe a gentleman's agreement
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not at all. If some other club had come in and offered £10m; Bayern had the right to sell to them with Tillman’s agreement. Rangers £5m sell on clause then becomes meaningless.

No club can be “forced” to sell a player even if the player and the buying club agree.

Is my understanding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And it's wrong
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So according to this, it’s Tillman that doesn’t want to come, seeing as Bayern clearly have no choice in the matter

Ok

if you could pass me the site to download the patch i would appreciate...

a number of years ago i had a patch that put celtic in the third division, nae dosh, just the reserves left, it was fun.

i expect it was not fun when it happened with rangers.

What's the point in having a clause to buy a player for a set fee if the selling team can just say "actually naw" when an offer is made? That's just not honouring a contract. The only way it makes sense that he's not joining is if we didn't make an offer (unlikely), there was a buy-out fee for Bayern to cancel the clause (maybe), or Tillman himself has decided he doesn't want to join (entirely possible). If clubs can just ignore contract clauses when they don't like them anymore, no one would ever agree contracts because they're meaningless. That's the foundational argument of the categorical imperative.

Its cool, if Rangers believe a contract has been broken and are aggrieved then they can take BM to court.

Said it before, football is a dirty business and everyone lies to everyone else. It is largely accepted and move on.

It’s simply setting the fee payable should ALL parties agree to a transfer. That includes the selling club.

I think it's in Nick's patch or the starter patch

I'll have a look mate

did celtic not have a clause with edouard but there was a date it had to be taken up by.

would not shock me if the number was 5.1 million and rangers were like "take 5?"
