Hopefully they reject.

Arda Guler at €17.5m release clause is a similar level of player, higher potential, younger and would allow us to focus funds elsewhere.

Just wish United would be more savvy with transfers ffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone seen him play?

Mount is a Champions League and Premier league winner plus young and English.

The other guy is a supposed wonderkid from Turkey. He might very well be a top player in the future but he's a gamble in the way Mount is not.

A gamble that costs less than a third of what we will pay for Mount, many of whom do not I rate as a £55m + player.

I certainly don’t anyway.

If we're in the Turkish market I wouldn't mind taking a look at Chükon. Good on the ball and has a cheap release clause too.

55m for a Premier League winner, Champions League winner, England international midfielder doesn't seem too expensive to me.

He's being judged harshly off the back of a miserable season for his club imo. I think 55m is the sweet spot, not worth anymore to United. If they want more i'd lean towards moving on even if that means taking the gamble on someone that's unrealised potential at this stage.

Guler could turn out to be completely ill suited to the Premier League, may have just had a good season in a very mid league.

You may well be right on Guler but it appears to me Ten Hag would rather play it safe and get someone who will contribute rather than someone who may and you can't blame him.

If you look at this in pounds sterling, you could say £55m being way too much to pay for Mount. But if you quote the price in the currency of Kai Havertzes, then Mount costs less than one Havertz, and that doesn't sound as bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You seem to have forgotten that it's because of united and Chelsea, transfer prices for average players have sky rocketed
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The sensitivity of some fans! This wasn't a dig at Arsenal.

But I'd take issue with the idea that certain clubs are individually morally responsible for inflation in transfer fees. Let's be clear: the single most important factors are the exponential growth in football revenue (so everyone has more money and expects more) and the emergence of clubs who can afford to invest way more than they make. But even with massive sums invested acting as symbolic benchmarks, these don't force anyone to spend more than they choose to on players. Arsenal presumably believe there's a rigorous business case for buying Havertz at £60m. If they don't think he's worth that money, that's on them. Manchester United and Chelsea didn't make them do it.

IMO we should take a look at that Dutch striker who was scoring a goal every other game in Turkey.

We’re the only club who are interested, we know Chelsea will sell for the right price and he wants to join. Let’s leave it for now and let Chelsea sweat and see what they’ll accept in a month or so. First team players aren’t coming back to pre season for a few weeks so there really isn’t a rush to get him right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll know if Chelsea are really desperate to sell by 1 July.

If they keep raising the price it will be a steep climb on Mount in.

Sod that we should've walked away at £40m.

The idea of what Havertz is (if used in the right system) is bettér than that of Mount. Mount was always a golden boy in the right formation meanwhile the formation Havertz had at Chelsea always seemed odd.

Yea. Pushed it till late. I have a suspicion we were always going to be the best player interested in him. This is a trend for is these days. Never 2 or 3 teams interested, only us always overpaying for the players. Sancho and Antony comes to mind.

55 mill for mount is insanity.

And why are people giving cleverley a hard time?? Cleverley would walk into our current midfield, I'd be glad to have him over eriksen, Fred and Mct.
