Every cloud....
So we’ve got a manager in place. Any new players coming?
Did Julen say anything upon leaving by the way?
Trying to avoid most of this shat today to be honest.
Here we go again before a ball has been kicked. Negative waves by the usual moaners. It was no surprise (to me at least) that Loppy left and none of us know what really went on behind the closed doors. However, he seems to be a manager who prefers to have a club with deep pockets and not one that is up for a challenge. Yes, he kept us up, but he couldn't solve the problem we have in front of goal. 23 league goals in 23 matches. Hopefully O'Neil will turn out to be a more attacking minded coach and he has the players in Fabio, Sasa and Cunha to eek out more than a goal a game average.
We have a very good squad this season, despite the loss of only one players that in my opinion, was worth a starting place this season.
I read the article that said Mendes was the one who persuaded Fosun to buy us and not WBA and he must shoulder some of the blame for the state the club is in right now.
I hope O'Neil does a good job and he does have the squad to avoid relegation and it's interesting that we don't know who the other candidates were and like all the other managers we've had (incl. the infamous MM) I'll judge him more after 6 months or so in charge.
Colour me shocked that you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors wolfie.
What is clear from the statements coming out from the club is that the decision to part ways was taken jointly between Jeff and Julen a few weeks ago. They both wanted to move towards an amicable split despite thei differences. Lopetegui and his staff agreed to continue preparing the squad for the new season while the club chose a new manager.
A divorce where both parties feel they can move on without ill feeling
Not a big name, but at least he is not Spanish or Portuguese.
Let’s give him a chance, at least until Xmas, he can’t be as dire as Bruno or as miserable as loppy
COYW.
It's a bad omen surely that his initials are GON he won't last three season's
Autumn and winter at best
We don’t have a great record of finding managers that have really had a degree of success. We’ve had 21 since John Barnwell left in the 80s and there’s only really 5 in that time in Nuno, McCarthy, Jones, Turner and Jackett that could be classified as having achieved some success. Good luck to O’Neill
Not inspired, BUT, every good manager started off being an uninspiring appointment at some point I guess.
I do think he did a decent job at Bournemouth, let’s hope he can improve on it. Monday must be a free hit for him.
Do wonder how much the players knew about all of this. Wonder who else the job was discussed with, if anyone
O’Neill has been the only manager mentioned really. Given the urgency of getting someone in I can’t help feeling a big attraction of him was that he was out of work
There are plenty of managers out of work right now, including Benitez and Rodgers, but I suspect the club chose O'Neil because they won't have to pay a fortune for his services.
As for the head coach's initials it should be GO'N as in Go'Neil. That' s being positive.
Rodgers isn’t out of work? 👍
Crap. read the wrong article. Benitez is in Spain too.
In the second round of the Carabao Cup, Wolves have been drawn at home to Blackpool. Game will be on August 29/30

Sometimes your ability to not be able to read a room is staggering.
We have just lost a top class coach with six days til the season starts ffs, what kind of mood were you expecting today
And it is no surprise Julen left with days to go? Yeah right!! It is a huge surprise to everyone.
Taken a look at O’Neill’s record with Bournemouth. He took over at the end of August 2022 after Scott Parker’s team had lost 9-0 at Anfield. In his first 23 games in charge they won 5 and were in a relegation position at the end of March 23. In April 23 they played 7 games and won 5 of them to save their skins. In May 23 they played 4 games and lost them all.
In terms of goals scored during his reign they scored 28 times, the same as Wolves in that period.
So his positive record all focuses around April 23. Let’s hope he brings that form to Wolves.
In fairness I think the team he had available at Bournemouth was nowhere near as good as the current Wolves squad.
A week ago Wolves were 6/1 with the bookies to be relegated and were forecasted to finish around 13th. They are now 2/1 to go down and forecast to finish 18th
Bournemouth had a dream group of fixtures in April in which they guaranteed their safety. They achieved victories and 3 points against the 3 teams that eventually got relegated.
They also secured a victory against the leagues perennial bottle jobs, Spurs at White Elephant Lane.
Hard to get excited about Gon but we have to just get on with it now
Is he really a "top class" coach cinci? Like I said before, he doesn't stay anywhere for very long and that included Real Madrid. So there's a reason for that. Plus, with all his complaining over the summer, it was no surprise to me that he didn't last. In fact I stated recently that he'd be gone before the season ended. He had a good squad to work with, but opted to run away.
Your opinion on coaches is completely meaningless wolfie because your view is that as with orchestra conductors the players can play fine without them. So Lopetegui, O’Neill, Donald Duck, Taylor Swift, all the same to you

Gary O’Neil has been given a 3 year contract.
He looks set to be joined by Tim Jenkins whose background is with Liverpool u23s and Martin Robson who has been with West Ham u21s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Those two coaches have now joined the club plus Shaun Derry who had a long playing career and was assistant to Viera when he was in charge at Palace
