3 left backs. 1 CB now out with another only just back. Right back out for 2-3 months.

Our medical department, just like everything else, needs a massive shake up. Hopefully this new doctor from Arsenal is just the start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably fair, but there are just lots of injuries in general this season. Arsenal have got a few as well. Timber obviously out for most of the season; Jesus missed a few weeks; Saka and Martinelli almost certainly out this weekend; Saliba apparently has a knock... That's just off the top of my head.

Loads of high-profile injuries this season. Can't help but feel it's just the demands of the modern game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of the Arsenal ones are knocks. We've had Shaw AWB n now Martinez for a few months each in defence and then Mainoo and Amad in midfield too. Plus knocks to others.

We've had it far worse. Chelsea been very unlucky too.

World cup interrupted season consequences maybe?

Its about time that women who falsely accuse men to be hold accountable for their actions with fitting repercussions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Statistically far far women don’t get justice for the crimes committed to them by men than the other way round so while no one who falsely accuses the opposite seex should go unpunished the default setting should lean towards believe all women until the imbalance is sorted
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck if you're ever accused.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I worry far less about being falsely accused than I worry about the more likely scenario that a female family member or friend is assaulted by a man and the police can’t proceed to conviction as there’s not enough evidence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not about the probability of being accused, but rather if you would get a fair trial. You think someone should be convicted based on insufficient evidence—this is shocking.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

When did I say that someone should be convicted?

By saying ‘believe all women’ I’m saying that the police default should be to properly investigate all allegations made by women and try to give them as much of the benefit of the doubt they can whereas for as long as time itself the balance has often been against women and men have gotten away with far too much.

Of course there will be a small number of women who make extremely damaging false claims but that shouldn’t derail an effort by the police to listen to women much more than they have been.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then you should have chosen your words better. The “believe all women” narrative is disturbing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not quite what he said. Robb said 'lean towards' which drastically changes the statement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get that, but his choice of words in the first instance was not how his subsequent thoughts and comments came across.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only because you didn't read them properly.

The World Cup is definitely a part of it but lots of players who have been injured didn't go to the World Cup. Their regular regime may have been interrupted and so on, but I think the World Cup is just one more thing in an already gruelling schedule.

Bit odd, seeing as the audio in the Greenwood case is the only difference, and that didn't constitute a crime.

At least we have Jonny Evans. Destined to start every game.

I'm wildcarding him into my FPL team this week
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s an assist king so you get double the points

Triple-captain for the Manchester derby.

Can you please sit this one out as life is too short to see you pretend not to get the point 200 times in one post?

Thanks

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, I misread that. I remember thinking it was weird that he travelled and didn't play; when he appeared for us again I assumed he was fit. Seems instead he might have been rushed back a bit.

Also was his foot injury not fully healed? Coz how can it be aggravated again??

How many rapes do you think are happening right now around the world, compared to the number of women making a false accusation of rape right now?

posted on 29/9/23

Also I know the pro rape side think the biggest problem is false accusations of rape but I actually think rape is a bigger problem. Rape is worse (imo) and more common than being falsely accused but I respect your right to focus on the wrong thing.

I mean, the fact he hasn't been arrested or charged is likely the main factor here.

I've put together a handy idiot's guide on how to respond to the subject of rape accusations:

- Courts of law must always require a high evidential threshold before convicting someone of a crime, which unfortunately means there will always be a lot of rapists who are found not-guilty purely because it's often impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt that intercоurse was non-consensual if the only witnesses are the victim and the accused.
- The incredibly low ratio of reported rapes to convictions is not just down to this. It's also a reflection of police forces responding sub-optimally: treating women with suspicion, insensitivity, failing to adapt methods to the specific challenges and complexities of investigating this kind of crime, or failing to conduct proper investigations.
- Beyond that, shortcomings within the criminal justice system are well documented, from the CPS being conservative in approving cases for trial to judges making astonishingly old-fashioned (to put it kindly) remarks in the courtroom.
- We also know that the instance of rape recorded in anonymous surveys is consistently significantly higher than the numbers that are actually reported to the police. This reflects the fact that a lot of women don't have confidence in the criminal justice system to prosecute their attacker, and by extension a lack of confidence that society at large will believe them.
- In this respect, the prevalent narrative suggesting that women lying about being raped is a common phenomenon is pernicious: it has real-world consequences in reinforcing scepticism within the CJS and hopelessness in victims, and can only bolster a rapist's sense of impunity.
- In the absence of evidence, we shouldn't assume a specific accused man is guilty; and unless you're a catastrophic аrsehole of a human being, your first response shouldn't be to opine that men need more protection from lying women.

Also, people don't seem to realise that Greenwood was a rape allogation while Antony is ssault. Neither are acceptable, but even under the criminal justice system they are seen as different tiers and with very different punishment levels.

Agreed Barry. Much like racist white guys who hate the idea that one day the ‘white race’ might not be the dominant race in the west, the pro rape gang seem to worry more about their privilege being taken away by the world becoming a smidge fairer.

Now of course I’m not accusing people on this thread of having that mindset but as a white male I can freely admit I’ve won life’s lottery and know that my privilege is something that I shouldn’t really have.

The fact that you think it is a 50/50 chance that the woman is lying, despite statistics telling you that false accusations are extremely rare compared to genuine ones, doesn't just make you wrong, it makes you a dangerous individual and you need to take a long and hard look at yourself.

Hag on the mounting #mufc injuries: “There was a World Cup in the middle of the season, a longer season. A shorter break. Each time the calendar gets longer, the load on the players is too great.”

That’s a change of tune because last week he said we’ve got the squad to cope with it.
