And what did they say when Jim was showing interest in Chelsea as a super-fan? Probably something similar
I don’t see why there is so much negativity around this. It’s much better than the Glazers keeping the same control they already have.

At the moment the Glazers have the same control they had before. Nothing has changed and there is no evidence yet if anything will for the foreseeable future.
We do need to see the further details of course but, if they can deliver on the above, and wrestle control away from the Glazers then I'm all for it.

I understand the desire to get the Glazers out, really do - back in 2010 I would have taken anyone vaguely credible over Hicks and Gillett.
I would be really sceptical about that statement though, it's complete and utter fan-service surely? Vague statements about best in world and local roots. Think your comment about needing to see details is absolutely spot on.

Asked ChatGPT to give me a generic potential owner statement:
Dear Manchester United fans,
I am honored to address you as the potential new owner of our beloved club, Manchester United. I want to express my deep commitment to the rich history and traditions that make this club one of the most iconic in the world.
First and foremost, I understand the profound importance of community in football, and I pledge to keep the heart of this club firmly rooted in its roots. We will engage the community like never before, ensuring that the voices of our fans, the lifeblood of this club, are heard and valued in every decision we make. From local initiatives to fan forums, your passion and input will be integral to our success.
Manchester United boasts a storied history that we must respect and preserve. Our focus is not only on preserving that legacy but building upon it. We will continue to nurture our youth talent and invest in the development of our academy. As a club, we will aim to attract world-class talent while never losing sight of our local heroes.
Our aspiration is to not only compete but triumph on the grandest stage - the UEFA Champions League. The dreams of our fans are our motivation, and we'll work tirelessly to bring the Champions League glory back to Old Trafford. Our philosophy will center on attacking, entertaining football, echoing the spirit of Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.
In these exciting times, we'll work diligently to ensure financial stability, so we can invest in top-quality players, state-of-the-art facilities, and the future of this great club. Transparency and accountability will be the cornerstones of our operations, so you know that your passion for Manchester United is reflected in every decision we make.
Together, we'll forge a new era of success, unity, and pride in being part of the Manchester United family. Our journey will not just be about championships but about forging an even stronger bond with our supporters. This is your club, and we will make sure that it remains your club, through and through.
Thank you for your unwavering support, and I can't wait to be a part of this incredible journey with you.
Yours sincerely,
[New Owner's Name]
Well, as mission statements go, that's certainly a generic mission statement.
I'll not take any footballing direction too seriously until the likes of dalot, lindelof and rashford are gone - or, at least, never permitted to be in the starting line-up.

The Glazers are still in control. Nothing has changed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's way too simplistic of an answer for this situation.
Lots of things are seemingly about to change.
1. Glazers losing sporting decisions
2. Leading on from point 1, a new DOF likely to come in
3. Jim isn't giving over that amount of money without a pathway to a takeover.
4. Likewise Glazers aren't handing over Sporting decisions to someone without a pathway to a takeover.
The club isn't going to look the same by the sounds of things....and you know what if the Glazers get to keep the commercial side of the business ONLY for a few more years then so what. That side of the business is the only thing that works well anyway. It's all they are good for.
What else are they going to say if they are bidding to win the war.
The Glazers are still in control. Nothing has changed

I don't think that Jim would personally make them either. It is about putting the right people in charge to make the sporting decisions. Which the Glazers have failed to do.
I'm pro-Jim because he is a United fan and not just a profiteering businessman using United as a cash-cow, as the Glazers do.
It worked out well for Blackburn Rovers when lifelong fan Jack Walker bought them back in the 90's allowing ground development and the purchase of SAS.
