All tough games after Chelsea, do they coincide with any European or League Cup ties?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
West Ham yes, kind of. We are their third game in 7 days factoring in a EL fixture. Newcastle play Milan 3 days after us. Villa no, the fixture comes after the international break.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very confident about West Ham and Newcastle - the former really are not a good team and Moyes is reluctant to change things up. I think they will have little to throw at us as they will likely need the points in Europe following their recent loss.
Newcastle did the double over us last season, smashed us in the away game and have been a bit of a bogey side for us at home - we are along overdue a result against them, and with their injuries, suspensions and congested fixture list we should be set to get that result this season.
Not looking forward to Villa at Home, it’s got draw written all over it

No point in looking at the Villa game as it is yonks away.
Chelsea is winnable. It won't be easy, even though they have been losing, they start games well but cannot finish
Wolves without Neto us great for us. Another winnable game too. Let's keep it going.
Respect to Ange. Implemented a new system with new coaching staff, integrated new players with some old ones and united the fan base.
We need to take a moment to respect what he has done so far. It's unheard of. All of the Levy out stuff has gone, along with the toxic atmosphere from last season. All of the above with Kane as well 👏🏻.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The levy stuff is on hold - if Ange isn’t backed given the start we have had then it will flood back, I can promise that.
Wolves away is harder than Chelsea at home in my opinion. O’Neill has made them very hard to beat and they are superb at set pieces and a big physical side.
Neto missing is a huge plus for us though - does feel like we are getting the breaks at the moment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The bare minimum in Jan is a left side forward who could play through the middle as well.
That is the only weak area in the first eleven. I think we can do better than Porro as well but that's another conversation. Defensive and Maddison cover is needed but we still have GLC and Bentancur as back ups so not that urgent.

I Bet we sign Jotta (the Ex Celtic player, currently not happy in Saudi) & i suspect the CB won't be Tapsoba ! I bet it's another VDV type. Probably just under the radar, not a full international, but young and doing well in Germany, France, Spain or Italy.. Probably playing at one of the less fashionable clubs. I just don't see Spurs dropping 60mln+ on Tapsoba as cover for VDV or Cuti. We simply don't have enough games to justify it.

Tapsoba will probably cost about double what VDV paid now Leverkusen are top of the league. we're not paying that for a third choice, not that he'd want that anyway

Just for the record Ace, why would you call a draw against City at WHL, when Spurs have won the last five against City with a worse side than they currently have?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because we have previously had joy against City by low blocking them, forcing them wide and hitting them on the counter with Kane’s playmaking and Sons clinical finishing. That style with Kane and Son as the spearhead was kryptonite to them and for some mind boggling reason Pep never seemed to adjust his tactics and repeatedly got done by it.
Ange will not set up that way, it will be an open game with two teams trying to play expansive, possession based football and City are the proven masters at that. Beating them in previous seasons with a different style and different manager and virtually completely different team has no bearing on what will happen this season. Times change, things evolve, you have to apply objectivity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is quite an interesting point re Ange v City.
I would have no complaints if Ange indeed did go toe to toe with City and we lost. However, I would be extremely impressed with Ange (which I am already by the way) if he shocked everyone by adjusting his principles/tactics against City away and played a more countering attacking system as a one off.

The bare minimum is a cover for the CB position and if possible cover for Maddison (play maker), unless Bentancur is moved into the position. We have good cover for the front left and right side.
Also a decent cover for Vic. I would rather not rely on the other two.

But the NLD is a bigger game. They don't have the same atmosphere at the emithad. It's the only game Woolwich fans find their voice. Saying that, City have won their last 21 games at home. It's a record.

Think I worry more about losing one of the CBs or Madders...We can bring more quality in summer but we may need to do some cover purchases in Jan
Firstly, I am not sure a loss or any dropped points will "burst our bubble" unless we truly feck up in these next 6 games. The start has been nothing short of superb so it will take a lot to burst that optimism.
Chelsea(h) - WIN in their Cup Final. They will try their best to upset their rivals form but i think we just have too much about us to not win this!
Wolves (a) - DRAW I predict a highly entertaining game full of energy and attacking intent. Neto a big miss for them, could just edge it in our favour.
Villa(h) - WIN. A very good team on a very good run but not the best away record, especially at top half teams. They beat Chelsea(a) but that aint much this season. They tend to back off in these tough away games, they stood off Liverpool and were taken apart. Worst defence in the top 6.
City (a) - LOSS. Foolish to hope for anything different but it will be intriguing to see our new Spurs pitched against the City juggernaut.
West Ham(h) - WIN. We struggle against these parked buses but will find a way.
NUFC (h) WIN. We'll have too much for them. They are dangerous but havent beaten anyone of note in the league.
SO an optimistic 13 points to keep the charge going. We may not be top at this point but well placed with some winnable games following over Christmas/New Year.
COYS!
Right now when Son goes off to the Asia games we will have a forward line of Richy, BJ and Kulu. January is the perfect time to address this. Sign someone new and chuck him in.

Nope. But after this summer I trust Ange and Fab.
Our wafer thin squad will be our undoing unless we have a lot of luck with injuries and suspensions, at the moment we are ok but an injury or ban to either of Romero, VDV, Maddison, Vicario, Son and there is a drop off in quality replacing them.
We should be putting things in place right now to bring in another quality CB who has pace, can play a high line and on either side. Along with a goalscorer as we need another finisher to make up for the shortcomings of some of the current lot.
Toney on paper looks a good signing but isn’t he a huge gooner and made noises about playing for them
Can see him going there
Gimenez is doing well but United have taught us recently to tread with caution with Dutch players in that league
Guirassy could be the one and I’m sure I’ve read he has a very reasonable release fee

Right now when Son goes off to the Asia games we will have a forward line of Richy, BJ and Kulu. January is the perfect time to address this. Sign someone new and chuck him in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any idea who?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope. But after this summer I trust Ange and Fab.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Ange will give Veliz a try, Solomon will be back and Gil should be available. GLC can also play there and Porro could play wide right quite comfortably with Royal then slotting in at Right forward. Hell, we could even play Sessegnon wide left for the 3 games he is fit for per season.
Other than CM I would say it’s the position we least need reinforcement in. The absolute priority has to be another CB as we’re a Romero injury away from a disaster or Eric Dier as most know him by. Guehi, Tapsoba, even Lloyd Kelly if that is who Ange truly wants would fit the bill.
A statement of intent from Levy in my opinion would be tying that deal up in the first week the window opened, no messing around.

I see Gift Orban has fallen off a cliff - 2 goals in 9 games when last season he had 16 goals in 15 games.
Would be tempted to offer United £40m for Sancho and then spend 3 months getting him fit and getting his head right. A big risk but the potential upside is huge - I just think Ange could get the best out of him.

Id love to know which players are on Ange's radar re new signings. I have a sneaky feeling its not gonna be guys we know much about, esp given prices in Jan and getting players to move in that window..... I suspect, we might be looking to Asian/ Latam mkts... Been his style in the past

Neto missing is a huge plus for us though - does feel like we are getting the breaks at the moment

The bare minimum in Jan is a left side forward who could play through the middle as well.
That is the only weak area in the first eleven. I think we can do better than Porro as well but that's another conversation. Defensive and Maddison cover is needed but we still have GLC and Bentancur as back ups so not that urgent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The bare minimum is a cover for the CB position and if possible cover for Maddison (play maker), unless Bentancur is moved into the position. We have good cover for the front left and right side.
Also a decent cover for Vic. I would rather not rely on the other two.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But if you have a gap in the first eleven, surely you plug that hole first?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think I worry more about losing one of the CBs or Madders...We can bring more quality in summer but we may need to do some cover purchases in Jan
