I hope there isn't a feeling at the club that top 4 will do and anything else is a bonus.

Levy has that engraved on a plaque behind his desk. He’d have the clubs motto changed to it if he could.

I worked out we are 6 points ahead at this point of where we were in the 16/17, 86 points season. We absolutely have to be looking at it like we are in a title challenge and showing the ambition to match that. No half measure thinking because top 4 looks a shoe in we can take our foot off the gas at any point. Arsenal literally just outlined how you can't afford to do this last season.

I would not be surprised to see us handed our first loss against City. We've ridden our luck a little in some games recently, I don't know if we can keep doing that. I'll cautiously say I'd expect 9 points from that bunch of fixtures. It could be more but I'm deliberately not going to get my hopes up.

I look at Kane at the weekend and it's such a shame we didn't keep him because we legit would be title contenders with him this time, unlike the false dawns under Jose and Conte. To think he already has 2 league hat-tricks for Bayern and he didn't get one for us since 2017. But he would have done this season.

If Levy doesn't get his wallet out in January then it should be shoved down his throat until he chokes on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Scoring hat-tricks in the German league is about as easy as it gets. He is not even top scorer in that pub league this season.

And what a stupid thing to say about Daniel Levy. He got his wallet out in the summer. That is the main reason Spurs are top of the table.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is funny considering you used to predict him getting a hat-trick each Spurs game against lower half opposition. Do you think the other guy is going to get the Golden Boot over Kane?

Levy has cost us before with inactivity and lack of spending in windows when we have been on the ascendancy. He can't cost us again. He pretty much had to spend in the summer with us doing so poor in the league last season. Let's see what he does when he doesn't have to spend but should if he wants us to achieve something special.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a totally idiotic comment from Sandy.
The guy is a thoughtless moron......
Kane is easily the best there is, one of his goals was a classic diving header! And Bayern will be odds on to win the European Championship.
Sandy is the biggest chump on this board!

Doesn’t surprise me, we were slow starters under Poch apart from the 18/19 season (his last) when we were level pegging with City & Liverpool til January then it all went to pot.

That 2017 season we didn’t hit top gear til the Xmas run in - but from there we accumulated more points than anyone else, including title winners Chelsea, and including a ten game run that had 9 wins and a draw. 2.26 points per game was our average that season.

So far this season we are taking 2.6 points per game; that can’t continue no matter how much we want it to - unless anyone believes we’re gonna finish on 99 points! But, if we can take 20 points from the 10 games outlined in this article, which isn’t outlandish provided our key men stay fit, then we’ll be on 46 points after 20 games and well on course for a strong season, with 54 points still to play for.

Some realism is needed.

New players in January are not always available from selling clubs.

The reason we would want a player would be because they are performing well and few clubs will sell their top performers mid-season.

It is also the case that quality in form players will be just as valuable and in demand, may be even more so, in the summer so there is no urgency to sell.

The impact these players can have in the immediate few months of the rest of the season is, historically, quite limited. Recent exceptions have been Bentancur & Deki who hit the ground running, but normally the impact is far more limited, especially younger players from foreign leagues.

In ANY season, regardless of our league position, I would say that this squad needs reinforcing and a CB is essential. Beyond that, whoever we get in truly has to be the right buy for the right price and that may not be doable in January.

CB in January is non negotiable for me. It’s incomprehensible that VDV & Romero won’t go a full season without injury, suspension or both and we are so understocked in that area it’s borderline neglect from Levy.

An attacker would be a bonus, but ideally someone from the PL who is likely to hit the ground running, such as Toney or Neto (don’t expect us to get either, just giving examples). If nobody suitable is gettable then leave it - we might have enough to get by.

The problem is we are managing this season on a knife edge - we have limited cover in vital positions and are praying every game for no key injuries in order to keep our momentum going. Biss, Sarr and Son going off to international tournaments in Jan is typical and the kind of thing that will fack us over, just as any injury to either of our CBs would. I nearly had a stroke when Hughes took VDV out against Palace.

I was unsure about Lloyd Kelly but I read yday he has registered a top speed in the PL equal to VDV.

Seeing as he can play left back as well he would be ideal for Jan and cheap with his contract running down too.

Need a left sided forward/center forward more imo otherwise the goals could dry up with Son going away.

If I remember rightly the last time Son played in this Mickey Mouse Asia Cup his form fell off a facking cliff when he got back.

Since being linked I have watched Kelly more closely. I have to admit I was maybe a bit quick to turn the nose up. Seems a competent player.
