I'm English.

English culture is being English and it's great. I don't know why, probably the same reason you all love being from whatever country you're from.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A hell of lot people don’t love the country they are from, though. Nationalism isn’t unconditional.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was thinking more about I’ve grown up here, I like what I am and I am from the land. I like the land.

I’m liking sh*t .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're stoned again aren't you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Today has been a great day. Pi55ed down a lot but a good day all the same.

Started the day by smoking a jeffrey, then saw a unicorn which I followed to the magical land of crisps and munchies. Then I mainlined uranium 239, into my eyeballs, man what a hit. Once I took the 3.30 flying dog from the never ending story into rainbow city all bets were off. A quick spoke with two leprechauns brought me down, and I’m just waiting for zebedee to give me a lift back.

But I’m not stoned

Usually you post a lot of links to the liberal Guardian. But on issues like this where it doesn't agree with you, you instead refer to a more conservative paper.

I wouldn't say the Guardian didagrees with me, but I get your point.
I think a lot of people of my generation sympathise with the Jews , because of the holocaust, and so we should.

Israel, the same size as Wales, was created and made into a state by the UN. Palestine was offered the same but refused.
You must understand that they were surrounded by enemies who vowed to exterminate them.
They were a democracy surrounded by what amounted to dictatorships. They made themselves into a liberal, prosperous country.
Did they do things wrong ? You betcha, and they are doing now. But their enemies want the end of Israel, for the Jewish race to become homeless once again. The Jews feel they are fighting for their lives, their soul.

I sitting here in comfort and safety know that they have done, and are doing, things wrong. But so to have Palestine , and it seems to me that Western liberals would be happy to see the end of Israel, something which I completely disagree with.
Hatred of Jews is on the rise in the west ,and I don't like it.

I don't see how giving a state to far-right extremists was ever a good idea. Did you hear about the bombing of the King David Hotel when you were young?

As for the rise in antisemitism; some people are associating the crimes of the Israeli regime with ordinary Jews, and the media aren't giving enough of a voice to the moderate Jews to show that isn't the case.

posted on 5/11/23

I know of the hotel bombing, but I was only one at the time.
There can ba a true and accurate list of Jewish crimes.
And a true and accurate list of Arab\Palestinian crimes.

But the Jews are entitled to their own homeland, where they can feel safe.As we do.

The Israeli propaganda machine, along with its lackeys in the US and Uk governments is trying to convice the World that all Jews are united in the lust to try and destroy Palestine which simply isn't true.

Of course they're horrified by what happened on October 7th but they've also been appalled for years by the actions of Israel's Far Right.

I used to have 6/7 Jewish workmates, not one of them had even been to Israel or showed any interest in going, despite being proud of their Jewish roots.

The land was never the UN's to give to the Zionists (who were European). Why would the Palestinians agree to give away their land by the command of foreigners? The foreigners (UK) already betrayed them. Would you accept such a thing about your own home? Why wasn't parts of Europe given away? The crime of the Europeans paid by the blood of non-Europeans.

This is one of the problems, though. It was Ottoman land than was taken by Britain. The Palestinians weren’t ever a state that governed the land.

One other thought, western states should talk about the injustices Israel have done to Palestine, not just blindly supporting them.

Have you heard of the Armenian Genocide? When the Turks/Ottomans forcefully removed Armenians and many of them died in this, it was and accepted by the West as a genocide.

Regarding the creation of Israel, the territory was split between those who are from there (natives) and recent immigrants from Europe. There would have been little to no problems with immigration until those same immigrants wanted to kick out those who lived on that land for centuries and take the land for themselves. In order to do that, they had to commit a genocide that is ignored as being one.

None of that is relevant to my point. Palestinians have always been at the mercy of imperial powers, it’s why this has been able to happen because they didn’t establish themselves as a nation state.

Nor were many places in Africa and Asia. This place was given to a third part by a second party who had no right to give it away on the first place.

The real world doesn’t really work like that, though. Especially when it comes to the right to land. And when neither will accept their ‘right to land’ we have this issue that cannot be resolved.

The UN split the land. It was given. Of the UN doesn't, we don't have an Israel. Israel also relied on the support of Western nations in order to "settle" the land.
