"Last nights Final was Sky Sports highest non-football audience since records began."
Because people love a fairytale, most of those people won't be tuning in every again.

I think it was because everybody wanted a 16 year old to win it. Even I did and I don't and didn't watch it
Im not a Darts fan at all and even I have been watching. Warrington ain't that far away and Littler is a red too so wanted him to win as he's the local lad. I'm sure his time will come.
Is Darts a true sport though or is it a game?

It's a fair debate.
I heard a good analogy yesterday though. Someone compared Chess to Darts but someone else replied and said a great chess could win a game with an average joe playing on their instruction, a great darts player will not win a game win an average joe playing on their behalf.
Basketball is awful and don't even get me started on Rugby with pads
Why is that 16 year old gorilla fat? Its not like hes supping a gallon of beer ever every night. Imagine what he will look like when hes 40.
Darts is at best an entertaining game. Like it was last night. Its not normally like that if you take away the compelling backstory the mainstream media and the BBC got hold of this week. But you cant compare it to elite sports.
And Emma Raducanu actually won her debut final.
There's only 1 good American sport and thats soccer

The Council of Europe charter on sport uses the following definition: "Sport means all forms of physical activity, which through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels".
It's a sport. I wouldn't say it is any more of a sport than Chess though.

LOL. It isnt though is it.
The reason people watched it was because of the backstory about the debut 16 year old. Just like Raducanus final which a lot of us watched who dont normally watch Tennis apart from Wimbledon. Otherwise both matches would have been watched buy the normal handful of enthusiasts.

I find NFL football to be the most boring sport of them all. Baseball is great if you're in the right frame of mind. Nascar is more than boring, reminds me of a kid on my street when I was young. Would drive around the block all day long. Must of been practicing for the big time.
The final was very good both in terms of standard and entertainment but there have been many finals (especially in the Taylor dominated years) that were hopelessly one sided. Like all sports some years are better than others.
I see Peter Wright has made the Sky Prem league again, it's time that somebody had a little word with him about his hair and costumes. It stopped being funny a long time ago and the bloke is 53 years old.

I disagree. As said above you could get someone else to make chess moves on your behalf under your instruction without any deviation in standard which doesn't apply to darts.

Also whenever England/ GB look like they might win something, they tune, e.g Rugby World Cup, the Ashes etc.
I think most sports fans tune in to these types of events in a sport they'd usually not even consider watching.

You can make similar comparisons in a lot of sports though.
Could an F1 driver win a race without his car and his team?
Could City have won the treble if Pep wasn't their manager?
I guess the only box chess doesn't tick is the "physical activity", which is fair enough. However a grandmaster of chess is far more intelligent and skilful than a darts world champion, in my opinion.

I'd agree that it was probably less entertaining back then as the standard was far lower however it doesn't look likely that the current standard will drop anytime soon.
Taylor would have been great in any era but I doubt he dominates the current era at his peak.
