Out of both cups, falling out of top 4 and a tight chairman who won't build on the necessary improvements? hmm

Flick isn't managing anyone atm I don't believe.
Nagelsmann will be free after the Euros though. I reckon he'll be a contender for the Liverpool or Barca job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nagelsmann at Liverpool could be a good fit again for them like Klopp was.
I think they have all gone very early on Alonso personally. 4 months ago he wasn't even on the radar. Not sure he's ready for that step up yet really. Wasn't long ago they were all saying Gerrard was destined for the top was it after Rangers? Now look at him. He'd struggle to get any PL job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I'd bet on Nagelsmann for them tbh - not sure they'll gamble on Alonso yet.
I don't particularly rate Tuchel that highly but I think if he leaves Bayern he might be the best fit for us right now. Someone experienced and pragmatic enough to be able to deal with the massive state of flux the whole club will be in for the next year or two.
The outside contender is probably De Zerbi - if we can get Ashworth and Mitchell in over the next few months it might not be a bad shout, though again not sure we'll take that gamble.

I’d pick them for top 4 over Villa once Madison is back in the side and Son returns.
I think Levy has handled FFP well and they do have money to spend. From all accounts they have a decent wedge to spend on Gallagher at Chelsea and should be buying a striker at the end of the season and that’s pretty much their squad sorted.

The definition of optimism is you thinking Chelsea are an attractive proposition to a quality manager. For all the "Young squad, lots of potential" blah blah, you can add:
- mid table
- 4 managers in 18 months
- unbalanced squad missing quality in key positions
- no real money to spend
- need to sell to balance the books
- Owners with little soccer knowledge.
- Small stadium
Here’s my guess
Liverpool; Alonso
Barca; De Zerbi
Utd; Potter

Could be a very interesting time.. and sadly you'd have to say us and Chelsea would be the least attractive to any incoming manager.
Can I ask why you think this?
Chelsea are slowly improving, have some great talented, with loads of potential (only potential right now), have got to a cup final and are due to get back some of their best players from injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because, of the 5 clubs mentioned, we are both still a bit of a mess (could add Barcelona to that list, though they still have a certain allure that's probably stronger than UTD's, and far stronger than Chelsea's).
Utd is very attractive for most managers. Why? Ego. A big club, and despite FFP, you would still have a decent budget. And to be the one that gets Utd back to among the top teams in Europe is a challenge most managers would love. Chelsea to a slightly lesser extent, but still attractive also. And of course being in the EPL is part of the kudos also.
Unless there is the mother of all turnarounds in the next few months, I just can't envisage ETH being here next season. I assume there is some background work about who to bring in, but it's pure roulette as to who will turn out to be the next 'great manager' in the EPL. Could be a name that's not even been thought of / mentioned.
I don’t think anyone is saying Utd and Chelsea are not attractive jobs for managers, just not as attractive as the others open this summer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on the profile of manager. And you need to consider what kind of managers clubs go for. Take Barca, for example. They don’t tend to actually go for big names. They rarely even appoint managers that don’t have ‘Barca DNA’. That puts Chelsea and United ahead of them in the pecking order by virtue of not limiting their options in the same way.

- mid table - only 9 points behind spurs with ridiculous injuries all year, also in a cup final which spurs are not.
- 4 managers in 18 months - irrelevant point.
- unbalanced squad missing quality in key positions - same as spurs.
- no real money to spend - since when?
- need to sell to balance the books - since when?
- Owners with little soccer knowledge - maybe true.
- Small stadium - yet still only make 30m less a year than spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea have better players when fit imo in terms of top class players. Spurs have son, and maybe maddison.
Chelsea have James, Chillwell, Enzo, Nkunku, and potentially palmer and for some reason people think Sterling.
We then imo have better prospects.
A long way to go and I dont think we will sack poch either way, but chelsea will still be a more attractive option than spurs working under the shackles of levy

If you read some of the things that have come out about his time at Bayern, I would have concerns over Nagelsmann.
The basic summary is that he's intense and detailed and innovative but lacks communication and relationship building skills. So the players had no idea what they were supposed to be doing when he changed things up mid-game.
Basically the players hated him and the management thought the performances were less than the sum of the parts. That quite a jarring change from Klopp who the players seem to love.
Yeah, I'd have major concerns with Nagelsmann.

But Spurs have Vicario, VDV (who I need to see more of) and Bentacur who, if we’re honest, walk straight into that Chelsea side.
I find your stance today weird though as I’m fairly sure I could find multiple posts by yourself saying that your squad is shiiiiiiiiiit.
I'd still say chelsea are a more attractive proposition than utd though. Atleast chelsea have had success in recent years and the owners look to be investing.

Agree with some others re: where Utd and possibly Chelsea would be in the pecking order with so many other clubs looking, and my guess is quite near the bottom.

As it stands it would seem Spurs are the best run club and most stable going forwards in the immediacy
Who knew hiring an Australian was the answer 😎

Out of both cups, falling out of top 4 and a tight chairman who won't build on the necessary improvements? hmm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d pick them for top 4 over Villa once Madison is back in the side and Son returns.
I think Levy has handled FFP well and they do have money to spend. From all accounts they have a decent wedge to spend on Gallagher at Chelsea and should be buying a striker at the end of the season and that’s pretty much their squad sorted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very optimistic.
We will see.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The definition of optimism is you thinking Chelsea are an attractive proposition to a quality manager. For all the "Young squad, lots of potential" blah blah, you can add:

Fair.
I can definitely see De Zerbi at Barca.
Potter and possibly Tuchel for Utd, I think they had a good look at Nagelsmann too (I don’t know why but I dislike him fwiw).

Isn't Flick leaving after the Euros? A lot of clubs will want him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flick isn't managing anyone atm I don't believe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you read some of the things that have come out about his time at Bayern, I would have concerns over Nagelsmann.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbf I wasn't focusing on the 5 clubs alone, my apologies.

I don’t agree at all but regardless Spurs won’t be looking anyway.
