Agree with some others re: where Utd and possibly Chelsea would be in the pecking order with so many other clubs looking, and my guess is quite near the bottom.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on the profile of manager. And you need to consider what kind of managers clubs go for. Take Barca, for example. They don’t tend to actually go for big names. They rarely even appoint managers that don’t have ‘Barca DNA’. That puts Chelsea and United ahead of them in the pecking order by virtue of not limiting their options in the same way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fair.

I can definitely see De Zerbi at Barca.

Potter and possibly Tuchel for Utd, I think they had a good look at Nagelsmann too (I don’t know why but I dislike him fwiw).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I reckon Barca will end up with whoever their B team manager is. Or maybe Thiago Motta as he used to play for them.

The next couple of years will be quite interesting. With Liverpool at the end of an era, City about to be heavily punished, Arsenal losing Arteta and going into obscurity, Spurs happy to finish 6th if they do some passes, and Chelsea back to mid table mediocrity where they belong, the only real prospect for a top manager is United. With Klopp leaving this season, and Pep likely to follow the next, a couple of seasons of Ten Hag building his young squad will leave us in the perfect position for a world class manager to take over in the next couple of years. With Mainoo, Garnacho and Hojland we have the best young players in the world in their positions. We have the biggest fan base, and are the biggest club in the world, in the best league in the world.

It is looking very likely in a season and a half or so that we will get Pep as manager and likely Klopp as assistant as he is looking for a less intense role.

Very exciting times ahead for United and bleak times for everyone else.

I honestly feel it just depends on the manager and what type of challenge he wants.

Of course Liverpool are currently in a good position and have a great squad in place. Some major players may go this summer also, which may actually help a new manager instill his way of playing to the players and help erase Klopp's management style - that's not derogatary to Klopp, but any incoming manager needs to put down his footprint. But you look at Liverpool and think, they're in a good place, I can do something with this.

At Utd, there's more to change, but a manager may come in and think, I want to make this club great again, and that may wet the appetite even more for certain managers.

I am quite open-minded to who we bring in - you sort of knew what you were getting with Pep, but with Fergie, Wenger, Jose and Klopp, you didn't know for sure how they would turn out. You look at pedigree and hope it works out well. But most of us thought ETH would be a good fit, and allowing for all the problems, certainly for me, it's just not worked out. Most of the time it won't work out.

I thought most of the Bayern players like Nagelsmann, it was Kahn and Salihamidzic who he had issues with. I wouldn't be suprised if more players currently dislike Tuchel, his man management skills are pretty awful.

Liverpool weren't a great proposition at all when Klopp walked in. They were bottom half in the table weren't they and a right mess?

As Kinsang says above......depends on what challenge the managers want.

As it stands it would seem Spurs are the best run club and most stable going forwards in the immediacy

Who knew hiring an Australian was the answer 😎

Out of both cups, falling out of top 4 and a tight chairman who won't build on the necessary improvements? hmm
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Three points off second place in January during the new managers first (supposedly transitional) season, with a clear identity and style of play. Largely excellent player recruitment over the last 2 years. Arguably the best training and stadium infrastructure in European football, matchday revenues in excess of £105m, no concerns at all regarding FFP or P&S rules, announced by Deloitte last week as now being London’s wealthiest club and the 8th richest in the world. Not bad for a small club that doesn’t win anything - and our status hasn’t been artificially inflated by the pockets of oligarchs or nation states either. Just need to turn the broader growth of the club into some bloody silverware over the next couple of seasons.

Forgot to mention our new ethically sourced owership as well. We will soon be the best run club in the world. We will soon be in a position to attract not just one of the best managers in the world but several. Pep as the head coach along with Klopp as the pressing coach and Mourinho as the defensive coach. With a new sporting director we can completely restructure how clubs are run and attract away all the top managers from other teams to work with us, AT THE SAME TIME. We are changing football forever.

Honestly, I think Ang is a very good manager, and just what Spurs needed. Great man management skills and has everyone on board, the only risk with him was could he do it a higher level, but he's showing he can atm. The next step is if he, and if Spurs give him the backing, can truly challenge at the top. If Spurs don't back him, he could go elsewhere.

I actually feel he is the type of manager we need. Some folk are natural communicators, Ang has that, you can't really teach it, but it's vital in today's game.

Given the current state of affairs, I can see Barcelona going for Michel, the Girona manager. They already had a good season last year, what they've achieved thus far this year is bloody outrageous.

We should just bring in a dream team combo of Carrick and McKenna, and that's us sorted til 2050.................

Would make sense given Pep and his brothers involvement with Girona that their manager would be the exact type Barcelona would go for

Would have loved to see what Ole McKenna and Carrick could have achieved if the club was competent and set up to succeed. Think we'd be doing as well as Arsenal have under Arteta. Probably wouldn't be toppling City still but no great shame there. Not many can with that team.

Their 55 points after 22 games had only ever been achieved or surpassed by one of the big 3, and only in their best seasons at that.

Just as SAF was the man during his era, Pep is the man in this current one, but in 5 years he'll be gone. Probably too soon for the likes of Carrick / McKenna, but that's going to be where the next great manager comes from, if not them, then someone who is not really on the radar at the moment, but suddenly we will look back in 5-10 years time, and think, it was so obvious they were going to be a great manager.
Alonso giving off that vibe also, but you just have to see how they react when in one of the top jobs.

I can see us loaning managers out. Maybe we loan Klopp back to Liverpool, obviously with the rule that he can't manage against his parent club so Roy Hodgson has to do it. No way we lose to a Hodgson team

Ange aint going anywhere soon. 4 year contract, which is unusual in this day and age for an 'up and coming' manager. It's a project at Spurs and he is probably as excited as the fans to see how far he can take us. He'll be backed, especially if we land UCL.

I can see why other would covert him though. It's exciting stuff

He'll be backed - will he? As in, where he can really compete. there's a big difference between top 4 and really competing for the title.

I get it's exciting times for Spurs, but we've heard that over the years.......................

He’s been backed already. Maddison, Van de Ven, Johnson, Vicario, and in January Dragusin. Plus he brought Sarr and Udogie back from their loans. We are the only club that has spent any proper money this January. Being backed doesn’t mean spending £80m on every player, it’s about having a recruitment structure where there is cohesion between manager, scouts, DoF and board, so that the right players are bought, not the most expensive or high profile. It feels like that’s where we are at now. Check our recruitment over the last two years and the fact Levy has ceded control of footballing matter to Paratici and Lange.

Only time will tell, but how far is the squad away from being a 'real challenger'. Every club needs to spend wisely, have the correct structure etc, but at some point, there probably has to be a decision taken of 'can we sign a really top player'.

I don't doubt that things are currently going well, but it's that final step that is the hardest. It's great to find unproven gems and turn them into stars, but you can't do that all the time, there will have to be the occasional big spend.
