So, it’s not really limited or limitless?

You’ve got to factor in that the goofy, spineless, turncoat, cowardly cant forced the move by refusing to train, into the equation.

I mention £53m because that was the reported value of the transfer fee. The financial plan for 23/24 would not have included an amount for his transfer because they didn’t know it was going to happen. But it would have included a cost amount for the value of the amortisation of his contract. I don’t know what the total benefit in 23/24 would be but it will have been significant. Can’t see it being less than £30m, maybe as much as £40m. Not to mention the saving on amortisation in 24/25
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He signed a 5 year contract. The amortised value of his contract would have been £30 million. If you factor in the sell on fee to Sporting, you are looking at £20 million or less in profit.

If the projections are correct and we made a £70 million loss last season, then we need to make a minimum £10 million profit this season to remain FFP compliant. When you factor in the transfers we made, the cost of paying of Lopetegui and bringing in a new coaching team; as well as any amortised value of other signings on the books for the season, its not difficult to see why we are close the line.

Did we have to pay off Lopetegui?

Scandalous if true

Coincidentally:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68456113

So we made a £67.2 million loss last year. Meaning we need to make over an £8 million profit in the period of 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, due to to a loss of £46.1 million in 2021-22.

FFP not a concern though.

Following what has happened to Everton and Forest, ffp is a concern to most clubs in the league. By selling all those players last summer Wolves have escaped a penalty. The club are well aware of the need to make a profit this season and the sale of Nunes can now be taken into account which in itself generates a sizeable profit after considering the fee, the clause with Sporting, the amortisation and his salary. Compared to last season we have also lost other high salary players like Moutinho, Neves and Jimenez.

We are now not under pressure to sell more players, although clearly we will get big offers for some players next summer. And come July as we move into a new financial year, we will have money to spend in the summer transfer window.

But you now agree FFP stopped us signing a striker in January?

They're no mention of the Neves sale in the club statement so presumably the profit on him and Nunes falls in the current FY so given the limited expenditure we shouldn't have any problem registering a decent profit.

I’ve already said I don’t.

You seem to be under the impression that we spent time negotiating a transfer, agreed terms with the club and the player and only pulled out because of demands by the agent at the end of January and we did all that despite knowing ffp would prevent us from signing him. I suspect not

No Gomes

Bench looking a bit thin, but a place for the younger Lemina.

Gomes was feeling a hamstring problem when he came off on Wednesday. They didn’t think it was anything serious, let’s hope that’s the case but worrying he isn’t in the squad today.

Very little experience on the bench

Wolves made a loss of just over £67million for the 2022/23 financial year but are on course to stay within the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

Having made a £46.1million loss in 2021/22, Wolves followed that up with another difficult year, totalling a loss for the year ending May 2023 of £67,186,000.

So 46.1m + 67.1m = 113.2m

Therefore 113.2 -105m = 8.2m

Which mens we have to make a profit of over 8.2m this season, which we well on course to do.

Okoduwa on the bench. This week he played for England U16s, so inexperienced is a fair shout

Not that simple though is it, there's the sums that can be offset against the losses for the purposes of PSR, investment in women's football community projects etc.

Can anyone remember a 15year old taking the field for a Wolves first team? Not sure I can. Be good if he got a minute or two at the end.

The published accounts are for the year up to the 31st May 2023. Neves sale went through on 23 June so don't see how this could be.

The team my lad showed me earlier had Gomes playing in a the man midfield with Neto and Sarabia up front and no Bellegarde. So surprised to see Gomes is out.

If he makes it on he’ll become officially the youngest player in clubs history taking over from Jimmy Mullen who was 16 years 43 days v Leeds in Feb 1939 - Mikey Burrows on twitter

Looking at the Wolves Website he isn't shown in any of the squads, first team, U-21s or U-18s.

Anyone know anything about him?
