Saka or Foden

Not remotely on the level of the greats but this is like a mini Messi V Ronaldo debate.

Foden like Messi looks much better on the ball, he can dribble, play the killer pass/cross and can score

Saka is like Ronaldo where he is a output guy but not as good on the eye as Foden.

Foden just for me.

Foden is better

I actually expect Maddison to start though.

Why? It wouldn’t be a surprise if he doesn’t even make the squad.

Southgate is no fan of Maddison. Took about a year to get back into the squad after being caught in that casino.

Probably won’t make the Final Cut imo

Both are top players. Hard to decide. Depends how you want to play and other players you have in your squad and how they compliment Saka or Foden.

For example, if I have a strong midfield I go for Saka. Weaker midfield I go for Foden.

Southgate will have Rice and Phillips with Jude as the attacking MF. There will be some top talent not getting starts for England.

In terms of performance this season, Foden is currently ranked 17th in Europe's top leagues. One place behind James Maddison. Saka sits in 9th place and is actually the highest ranked PL player this season. The stats show that, although Foden can be good to watch, statistically and performance wise he is actually quite average. The rankings also show how poorly PL players are performing this season.

For those wondering, Bayern's standout player, Leroy Sane sits top of the rankings for the season. Shows how badly he is being let down by his team mates at Bayern this season.

Yep and he’s been shiiiiiit for England when given the chance. With Foden playing centrally more often this season it wouldn’t surprise me if Maddison doesn’t make it as he’ll be an option there.

Depends on what happens with Bellingham, though. He’s played cm most of the time for England, may be that he stays there rather than moved forward. But I’m not sure if Southgate would try an untested midfield of Bellingham, Rice and Foden. Especially due to what it offers out of possession.

Strikers win you matches, but defences win you tournaments

Which means, no room for either.

Pickford
Trippier Walker Stones Slab Chilwell
Phillips Rice Henderson
Bellingham
Watkins

I heavily doubt Southgate starts Watkins over Kane?

Saka is ahead. More goals and assists for a weaker team and performs better for England, all at a slightly younger age. Foden has caught up after this season though so it's as close as it's ever been.

Both on the brink of world class.

I reckon he would play Trippier on the left if Shaw is going to be a doubt. Maybe Trent in midfield along with Rice too?

Maguire will start and Shaw if he’s fit. I think there’s two places up for grabs, one of the midfield positions and left wing - Foden you’d think would play there but it may depend on wanting some more pace and a right footer, especially if it works better against a particular opposition.

Doesn't matter. The Southgate Trippier relationship is like one man and his dog.

Both top players but not like for like.

Foden has more facets to his game, Saka would probably get you more goals.

Serious questions should be asked of Southgate if he doesn’t pick both of them.

Actually cant remember seeing saka having a good game of late. And then he will whip in a cross that someone will score from or he will get a deflected goal or something.
