So he copied and pasted a text which quite succinctly summarised why England is a nation, as everyone stated, and then said 'haha, so you see: England isn't a sovereign country!' Glad that those hours trekking in the foothills of Google searches weren't in vain.

England is not a nation. Pick up an atlas. google nations of the world, do what you need to, if you reside in Manchester, London, wherever, you are British not English as your nationality.

So, in summary, 193 nations of the world. England is not one of them. It is a simple fact.

My point all along was that people can call themselves English but they are actually British in every legal way. Many here believing that was false.

that is just semantics. Cornwall could be considered a nation with those parameters. The scouse nation, The reds nations, Wolves nation.

I was talking from a global standpoint, England isn't a recognised nation.

I did hold my hand up regarding missing the 'nation' thing thinking we were talking far beyond that on a global scale.

Reality is that a few here genuinely thought England had a higher standing on the global stage as an independent nation. That is clear in this thread. That is the embarrassing part here.

Lot of flip flopping here today.

Clear from the start what I was talking about, the global scale. Others here were talking bizarrely from a minor standpoint as if England is on a par with the black country or being scouse ffs
