Once there is a lie/false information out there on the internet, it is extremely hard to undo. It's essentially how we got Brexit. Good guys need to start learning how to manipulate the general public in this way, to do good.

The white and red is traditional and should be left alone
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should everything that's traditional be left alone? How about the droit du seigneur? Female genital mutilation? Execution of children suspected of thieving?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comparing a flag to FGM and execution of children? Christ almighty RR
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not what RR did. Try and understand better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. I was illustrating the point with very clear-cut examples (selected because I felt confident the OP would agree with me about) that arguing "but it's traditional" is not a sufficient and inherent justification for opposing change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If your point had merit then surely it would have been better to choose other traditions which have been changed which were not obviously wrong, evil and disgusting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
who gets to decide which traditions get changed though? (not the obvious heinous ones)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The FA does in this instance. I think the hefty price tag will likely be a bigger factor for most. Like Tamwolf said, it will certainly receive a lot of publicity, yet to see if that will have a positive or negative effect on shirt sales.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair there's many people in the world that find England, the English, English traditions and English symbolism wrong, evil and disgusting. Some of them even live in England.
Just saying.

Imagine tthe reaction to Nike tinkering with the Stars and Stripes, Irish Tricolore, Palestinian flag.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9782677/Hannity-condemns-U-S-Olympic-Committees-proposal-redesign-flag-logo.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Team USA are literally proposing to change the stars and stripes. Thoughts?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How has that gone down?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much the exact same monngos as yourself in America with the same reaction as you to a slight design change to make it look better on their kit. The colours on the flag, on that England kit, make it look better from a design point of view, on that particular strip. Same with using fewer but larger stars on the US flag, from a design point of view. But your brain is made of seaweed so you don't understand these types of things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How have I reacted Bro?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like a monggo, as I said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What lovely language.

Anyone using that term should be getting a ban imho.

I'm not offended by the change, but at the same time the change is wrong and completely unnecessary. In my opinion, a flag represents a nation's traditions and identity and shouldn't be changed in the same way a brand might change.
International tournaments are one of the few times the nation gets together and shows a patriotic side that we often dont demonstrate, supported by some of our traditions, and I think the colour change is a real shame in that respect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't you worry, the traditions of getting planes diverted, getting bladdered, pavement dancing and cafe furniture throwing will still be in evidence.

Yeah, but it seems to me reasonable to be ultrasensitive about perceived disrespect toward flags representing nationalism that votes for you, while openly mocking flags associated with a nationalism that loathes everything you stand for. Right?
Slightly tangential but I stumbled across this piece of AI generated patriotic art while tumbling down the rabbit hole of England kit Twitter. The comments mocking it gave me a chortle.

The white and red is traditional and should be left alone
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should everything that's traditional be left alone? How about the droit du seigneur? Female genital mutilation? Execution of children suspected of thieving?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comparing a flag to FGM and execution of children? Christ almighty RR
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not what RR did. Try and understand better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. I was illustrating the point with very clear-cut examples (selected because I felt confident the OP would agree with me about) that arguing "but it's traditional" is not a sufficient and inherent justification for opposing change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If your point had merit then surely it would have been better to choose other traditions which have been changed which were not obviously wrong, evil and disgusting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
who gets to decide which traditions get changed though? (not the obvious heinous ones)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The FA does in this instance. I think the hefty price tag will likely be a bigger factor for most. Like Tamwolf said, it will certainly receive a lot of publicity, yet to see if that will have a positive or negative effect on shirt sales.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair there's many people in the world that find England, the English, English traditions and English symbolism wrong, evil and disgusting. Some of them even live in England.
Just saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same applies to any other country.

Once there is a lie/false information out there on the internet, it is extremely hard to undo. It's essentially how we got Brexit. Good guys need to start learning how to manipulate the general public in this way, to do good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dunno, I think it would be funnier to convince them that St. George was actually a muslim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was Syrian, wasn't he? Moreover, I heard he crossed the Channel to Dover in a small boat without immigration clearance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s contested, because we don’t have much evidence, but my understanding is he was of Greek descent. Problem is that people back project modern concepts of national identity, which is anachronistic. He’d have been considered Roman over anything.

Not sure that is entirely accurate. More a British thing than an English thing. England does get tarred with that brush more than say Scotland but it was a British empire not an English one.
