You honestly think Rooney was better than Bergkamp? Come on man ffs.

Cannot be a serious comment

Cantona
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oooooh
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Cantona is a great shout. Couple of good seasons and nothing beyond that internationally or at other clubs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He got 125 goal contributions in 156 PL games. That's more than a couple of good seasons
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And let’s not forget what his absence during his ban meant for our title aspirations. I’m not sure any player in England has ever been such a springboard to dominance for any one club as Cantona was for United.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Le Tissier must have 300+ goal involvements in the top flight but nobody rates him as a top player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He got 147 in 270 PL games, not really on Cantona's level. What exactly do you rate players in that position on, if not ability to create and score goals? Ah but Cantona played for United, so we'll change the criteria, eh?

The 95-96 season alone, was the biggest example I've seen of a player virtually single handedly winning a team a league title. The last few months of that season, he scored so many winners in narrow victories, and a cup final winner. And he wasn't even a striker
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That was the thing with Cantona. Not just his quality but his presence and his effect on United. Whenever I hear the word "talisman" in a football context, I always think of Cantona.

Not sure the assist stats are accurate. They didn't count assists until the 21st century.

Not read the replies but I don’t think Torres was overrated at all. He had a few years where he was almost unplayable and in the conversation for the best number 9 in the world. I mean if it’s based on longevity then shall we throw in Ronaldinho? I wouldn’t.

The answer is Cantona

By the way it’s worth bring that Torres is nowhere near considered our best striker where as Cantona is literally labelled the King.
