top 5: Henry, Kane, Shearer, Aguero and Rooney
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, agree with this. Dont really see how there's even an argument for Owen to be ahead of any of those.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah not even close. Fowler was better than Owen as well.

Owen looked great early, couple of injuries, players wising up and he was done. No way even a top ten prem striker.

Owen, Fowler, RVN would be in top 10 for sure

Surely RVN has to be in there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fowler, RVN, Drogba, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Defoe as well as Owen were all great strikers and we already know that Haaland will have a place there a bit later....

People who are claiming that once Owen lost his pace he was finished, don't know what they're on about.

He wasn't electric from about 2000 onwards yet he still bagged goals for Liverpool and England for fun.

He’s nowhere near the top five strikers in PL history
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is.

People forget those first 4-5 years at Liverpool. He was unplayable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry but unplayable strikers break the 20 goal a season mark. Suarez and Henry are examples of unplayable strikers in the PL era.

Once the Liverpool cult turns on you there’s no turning back.

I think he gets more disrespected for England, though. He’s arguably England’s best ever striker when you look at who he actually scored against.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is 100% true. Liverpool fans get so, so bitter/vicious when they feel like they've been let down. Owen made the right choice for his career at the time, simple as that.

Liverpool didn't try to re-sign him and we are the biggest club in the world. It was logical that he signed for us, even better that he won the Premier League with us too.

Owen scored 20+ goals a season at Liverpool about 4-5 times.

RVP.
Hasselbaink. Seriously underrated by the way.

Liverpool fans trying to claim that Fowler was better than Owen are hilarious.

Owen was miles ahead of Fowler, who was very good, not only for Liverpool but England too.

I think Fowler scored about 5 goals for England in 30 something games for a start! I don't even need to bring up Owen's big game record compared to Fowler's at Anfield. Owen scored in about 3 finals for example whereas Fowler didn't really turn up when there was silverware to be won.

It was a lot easier when Suarez and Henry were doing those numbers. By Henry's peak, 2004 time, defenders weren't allowed to end careers in the way they were when Owen came about in 1997 time.

Agree on Hasselbaink.

RVP overrated... 2 outstanding seasons but apart from that wasn't great.

His second and third seasons with us he was poor too.

Of course Fowler was better than Owen. Other than running very quickly at the start of his career there’s not a single thing that Owen was better at.

if you takeaway games vs Norwich was Suarez even that good?

Suarez and Ronaldo are the best two players to have played in the prem but neither had the longevity in the prem to make top ten lists.

What about Owen's big game record?? Goals in cup finals??

Miles better than Fowler.. Liverpool fans have Fowler above Owen because of the United move in 2009. Pre 2009 Liverpool fans held Owen in higher regard. Fact.

Suarez's 13/14 season is one of the most overrated ever I think. Basically a flat track bully for most of it, with some spectacular goals tbf, but disappeared in the biggest games. Where was he against Chelsea for example, or City? Didn't score against any of them and especially that Demba Ba game when they needed him most.
