Very few do or will.

Exactly, iniesta is a goat level player. To compare mainoo to him is madness, but culer knows this, it’s exactly his nonsense MO.

Be pleased for him if he does go to the euros, but do worry if the circus around England and the knives that go with it may affect him. I think it’s just too soon

Mainoo is definitely not a generational player or the next Bellingham / Rooney. He's a good player whose made a good start to his career (very early days). Hopefully he has a long successful career and he isn't eaten up by media / social media hype

He is a generational player.

Watch him with your eyes.

The kid is brilliant. Forget the comparisons and just enjoy what he is doing for club and country.

He's 18 (eighteen)... Giving any opinion as fact, at this point, is the sign is imbecilia
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im sort of thinking instead of hyping him and comparing him to other players United fans should tell everyone else he's not all that, then people can leave him alone!

Rooney, Mbappe and Messi did alright. It's all about mentality, and Mainoo is pretty grounded by all accounts.

It's pointless making categorical statements about the ceiling of an 18 year-old player. Surely we've all been around long enough to see incredible talents at 18 or 20 who just didn't go on to realise what seemed in their grasp - and similarly to see elite players emerge in the first half of their 20s who didn't particularly stand out at youth level. Mainoo might well start to show more aspects to his game as he gains more experience at senior level: we haven't *seen* evidence of an incredible passing range yet, but we have no idea how many more gears he has to shift through. He might tail off as Dele Alli and so many others have after dazzling when they burst on the scene. Or he might show consistency without going to new heights, and prove to be a capable squad player for years to come.

For now, I think we can be forgiven for being excited about his talent and occasionally getting carried away with thoughts of how good he could become.

The argument of whether any specific player is ready for international football is tough because it ultimately depends on the quality of other players of that nationality, playing in the same position.

Hard to say he’s not ready, then choose someone who offers less.

Not sure why you felt the urge to bring it up though. It was hardly a radical thing for me to say. And one decent performance in an international friendly isn’t going to sway me.

I still think Mainoo shows great talent but he is nowhere near as good as some of our fans think. Hopefully he will be.

VC not sure if you saw my question above, but did you watch Mainoo against Belgium? The consensus was that he definitely didn't look out of his depth, and many people considered he was England's man of the match.

If it’s going to happen, it will happen. Not because he plays international football a year or two earlier than expected.

interesting to see if one of Henderson, Gallagher, Mainoo doesn't make the squad or if Southgate decides that Gomez's flexibility means he can take one fewer defender
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Curtis Jones’ injury came at a really bad time for him. He offers a decent balance between what Mainoo does in possession and what Gallagher does out of possession.
