Dundee v Rangers Aff

it comes down to who you believe.

i believe Dundee, apparently clement was running about spitting on the pitch to get the game called off.

also, he said rangers would play on Mars, that doesn't sound like the kind of person i can take seriously, so many things wrong with that such as the commute and instant death of players upon leaving the rangers spacecraft Apollo 1690

Turns out we couldn't have played Dundee last week.

Dundee told the powers that be that their pitch was unplayable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve no idea, but the story from Dundee is that’s not the case, and hinting that rangers didn’t want to play it then.

Only those involved will ever know the truth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If only we had a similar situation from which to judge big John's honesty

Disnae bloody matter if we wanted to play it or not, it was twice agreed when it would be played, and Dundee's bloody pitch has failed to be up to scratch at those times, twice

Honestly, the amount of folk trying to pin this on Rangers is unreal, anything to throw mud at us like

"The SPFL have opened up disciplinary procedures against Dundee because Rangers didnae want to play a fixture against them at a certain time"

"here dae this spfl"

"aww yes sir rangers, right away"

mad u guys thought they were against u when they put together a riddy vote to gain you top league access after going bust.

Yea not like there was a rule change in May that year made specifically to stop us transferring membership…

And not as if that rule change was reversed shortly after

they asked clubs to let u back in.

so aye they defo changed the rules to shaft you, then asked clubs to let u in.

very good.

u only need to look at the situation with referees

rangers complain about collum - not seen in months at a rangers game

Celtic on beaton? next old firm game awarded.

deary me.

I think it was nice of Rangers to motivate Dundee for the game, regardless of whether or not it is a dead rubber by insulting them.

I don’t think Mars has a similar gravity to Earth.

Has this been considered?

maybe that would help

if the surface is poor the ball won't need to touch it.

imagine big baldemort in mars

Would play havoc with the u-bend mechanism though.

Thousands die of dehydration.

I am really not getting this whole retrospective argument as to why Rangers never agreed to play this game before the OF game. I have no idea if they did or didnt 'refuse' to play that midweek.

I would imagine they expressed a preference if there was a choice and Dundee agreed that it would give them a bit more time to sort out their tatty field. But who knows?

Was there an outcry when that decision was made though? At the time?

Were there people jumping up and down at that point saying....aah but what if the pitch is unplayable due to rain the following midweek?

Of course they werent. Because the suggestion that Dundee were so incapable of putting in effective interim measures or contingency plans which would result in the game being called off a second time would have been ridiculous. Particularly if they had an extra week to do it.

Scheduling it for this midweek was a win win and the agreed solution for everybody at the time.

Rangers werent being forced to play in the midweek ahead of the OF game and Dundee were getting extra time to put interim measures in place.

Absolutely none of this is Rangers fault and anyone suggesting it is needs to take a wee lie down. They probably think Michael Stewart is a 'pretty neutral' pundit.

its rangers fault for being such big babies.

its clear that any suggestion to play the game in the days leading up to the old firm match would be unacceptable, why should celtic get a longer rest blah blah blah.

so they wouldn't dare risk getting a statement launched in their direction over that, not another one.

best the statement was about dundee.

The only way that not playing it the midweek slot before the OF game could lead to a negative outcome would be if Dundee were so monumentally unprofessional that they couldnt manage to put any effective measures in place in the significant amount of time the reschduling was affording them.

I think the key behind all of this is that Dundee are skint and didnt want to pay for the temporary measures (addressing the drainage issue itself) that would have greatly increased the probability of getting the game on.

In the 3 1/2 weeks they had they surely must have been able to do some temporary fixes to the drainage, hire a few pumps and temporary tankers to take the water away etc I am no drainage expert but im pretty sure there is more they could have done because the actual drainage issue itself clearly didnt change in the weeks they had.

Instead they cheaply tarted up the surface, put celtics scabby covers on it and gambled on the weather being ok.

I see Simon Jordan has clarified what he meant yesterday and said what he actually objected to was the 'high hatted, pompous' tone of the statement we issued.

Possibly the least self aware thing I think I have heard anyone ever say.

Simon 'why use one regular word when you can use two really long ones' Jordan is the most pompous, up his own erchie tw@t ever to address a microphone.

The lack of self awareness is astounding

there would absolutely be rangers fans saying we had an unfair advantage, particularly if you lost the game.

i don't really care for the record, i'm kinda bored.

Much ado about nothing.

Dundee have schite facilities which they knew and still scrimped on, Rangers make another angry statement which while hitting the mark also comes across as overly aggressive.

Get them pumped on Wednesday and move on. I can also report Dingwall is bathed (look it up Timmies) in sunshine today so we're looking good for that.

Id question whether Rangers have been aggressive enough .

You can only imagine what that clownshoe Elms and Climate Control Guy are like to deal with in the back ground. Big Phil must have been tearing his hair out.
