Full house at Paradise. Celtic on form, Rangers being a bit of a basket case. It all points to a Celtic win.

The last time Rangers won at Cetlic Park was 2020, when there were no spectators at all, Covid. Rangers basketball player with two goals.

Stuart McCall telling Rangers to put Dujon Sterling on Calmac, to stop him influencing the game.

To be fair to the boy, I thought he was MOTM in one of the games against us. But our midfield seems to be firing again after Calmac’s and Hatate’s comebacks.

I would definitely be playing Sterling in midfield.

Him and Diomande would give us plenty of energy in there.

The issue is who plays in the wide positions, Silva seems a stick on due to there clearly being something in his loan agreement that he starts at least a high percentage of games.

I'd be tempted to have Lawrence on the other side given he's played wide before and Cantwell was hopeless when he played wide.

Im hearing we have agreed a reduced fee for Cortez.

I assumed we would be signing him after he remained here after his injury ruled him out for the season.

all depends on Ridvan with that I think. If Ridvan aint fit good chance Sterling goes to LB.

I think we need to change it up I dont see our usual midfield shape winning that battle. mId be looking to stick another body in cm. Abandon the width as we have no fit wingers anyway. pack the midfield and stick someone up closer to Dessers (prob Silva).

posted on 8/5/24

Cantwell was hopeless on the right cos he wants to always cut in and open the game up but that involved him cutting in to his right foot. I think he would be better wide lift if it came to that.

With what is available to us

Hopefully we can line up with
Butland
Tav
Souttar
Balogun
Yilmaz
Sterling
Lundstrum
Diomande
Cantwell
Silva
Dessers.

play two holding dcm's, play 2 no 10's get the width from fullbacks. play two up top in Silva and Dessers.

far from ideal but with lack of fit wide players I think this might be our best bet.

posted on 8/5/24

I seen there that if we are in the qualifiers we will be seeded in both rounds.

If Celtic are in the qualifiers they will be unseeded in both rounds.

Won't be far off.

Not sure I fancy the 2 numbers 10s given Tav has his hands full with Maeda without their full back overlapping. Could work if they've been well drilled on it all week but i'm sceptical.

I'd go 4-3-3.

Starting Silva and Lawrence in the wide roles. Cantwell dropped.

makes sense celtic have been woeful in europe the last 4 years or so....

I read somewhere that they are outwith the top 100 teams based on their last 4 year in europe.

my thinking is that with two holding mids they should be able to help out wide . suppose that could come down to whether Maeda starts?

I also dont want Lawrence to start, he has been rotten since he came back from injury. And he was the worst player on the park for us IMO in that last game.

he was dire in that last game in the no 10 role.

Yet he looked our main threat when he came on at the weekend against Killie.

You pay the big bucks for consistency. Lawrence isnt consistent (like so many others) but I dont know what we really expect - he was a free transfer from a team relegated from the English championship.

If the comments are true, then Silva won’t be playing at the weekend.

They are about to lose their highest scoring season. So they need a good year or they will be taking a tumble.

That's why I would play him wide, he's been a winger.

Just more likely to smash one in cutting in than Cantwell is. Wouldn't bother with a number 10 at the weekend.
