I would love to have seen De Gea playing in this team this season.

Onana is absolutely an upgrade on last season's De Gea, yes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Peter Schmeichel doesn't agree with you.

I know who I trust and listen to. πŸ‘
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What did Schmeichel say?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He said the United defence have lost faith in keeper around October time. He also questioned his technique when diving shots into the corners in the same interview.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You got a link to that?

Honestly though, it's okay to not rate Onana. But to still be pining for effing De Gea is insane. He wasn't just bad last season, he was bad in his last 5 seasons. And nobody has been stupid enough to sign him since. I don't get how anybody could have watched us as often as you did last season and been blind to just how awful he was
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was okay with replacing DDG. That's the whole point. With his wages and his form definitely dropping off a bit I thought it made sense.

This isn't an improvement. We've spent £50m on this guy. He's the 4th most expensive keeper of all time isn't he?

We should have replaced him with someone better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We should have replaced him with someone better. But he is still an upgrade because De Gea was awful and had been for a few years.

Your whole argument was that the players were upset with ETH because he got rid of a crap keeper who was their mate, so now arent playing for him. If you genuinely think that, we have bigger problems than ETH. Much bigger problems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A crap keeper? My word. He's probably the third best keeper we've ever had. πŸ™ƒ

I can't even say with any certainty that Onana will even be our keeper after next season. In fact.....I wouldn't be surprised if he starts next season and is replaced by an understudy during the season.

Crap keeper? The current one has a highlight reel of gaffs. This place has lost its mind.

Why is SE85 using comments from one of our best GKs to back his own opinion but doesn't believe in the comments from one of our best ever goal scorers?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because they clearly say stupid things on SKY to gain interaction.

Do you think Roy Keane thinks Haaland should be playing in league two?

Rooney is wrong. The players who are out injured have been taking the criticism all season. Why is two more games going to change anything?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rooney even said 'ive seen it happen over the years'. He's talking from personal experience as a player. He's managed football clubs and players, but you don't believe him yet whatever Schmeichel says is gospel?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair "managed" might be pushing it

Bruno and Rashford presumably he is referring to then do you think?

Both those players have played all season and we've been a disaster pretty much since opening weekend.

Why has it all of sudden got too much for them?

Not buying it sorry and I love Rooney but he's wrong here. We are just an injury hit team with a manager out of his depth.

Im not talking about 5 years ago. He had been shΔ«te forna good few years. You have just completely wiped it from your memory.

As I said earlier, I could pull you a statistical comparison of Onana this season vs De Gea last season - you would ignore what it tells you though.

I don't believe Bruno would feign injury now when he's been available almost every game every season including the lead up to the last WC. But with Rashfords social media posts, going out on the lash and then not being available I can see him pulling this stunt. Sancho too.

It did sound a bit like he was having a dig at both Bruno and Rashford but I honestly think he was just giving an opinion. It was based on no evidence and was ill advised but he wasn't saying it like he was claiming he had insider info. It just seemed clumsy and almost just a throwaway opinion

Bearing in mind we do fekkkk all when it comes to building from the back, which was one of reasons for bringing Onana.

You then have to judge DDG agains Onana on pure shot stopping because we have been pelted with shots all season.

Onana is not better than DDG at shot stopping any day of the week and even last year at his worst he is better at stopping shots compared to onana. He would’ve done just about same if not better,

I don't think they're showing up very well [for Ten Hag]. 'I think the performances... there's some very good players in that squad, and the performances are way below.'

Rooney did not hold back in his analysis of this latest United defeat, labelling Casemiro as 'lazy' and 'naive' for the Arsenal goal, and suggesting certain injured players are in fact fit enough to play.

On players not pushing through the pain barrier, he said: 'You need to want to play. I played with injuries.

'The manager needs to be ruthless and take that opportunity away from you.

'As long you haven't got a bad injury you should want to play on that football pitch. For me that doesn't seem that's the case.'

You've got European Championships coming up. You've got an FA final coming up.

'It's easy for players to, you know, because they're getting a little bit of stick now. It's easy for players to stay out a little bit and then come back towards the final and get themselves ready for the European Championships.

'I've seen it myself over the years. So I just think the players who are being injured, they're not filling themselves with any credit at the minute, and the manager's just going to take all the stick for them.'

As somebody else said above......Rooney still has a lot of good feelings about United even as an Evertonian and
he's hurting too.

That's all I think it is too. These players have received so much abuse for months on end now and haven't hid from it.

The type of football we are trying to play is probably causing a lot of these muscle injuries. Going man to man and treating games like it's Basketball is probably going to end up costing you more injuries rather a team who controls the football more than we do.

It’s the style of play causing the injuries now.

Yeah I had a good view of that goal and Rooney was dead right.

…….

WTF? We don’t go man to man anything like basketball. What the hell are you watching? We constantly fail to pick up players because we have our own players just jogging around.

Now, Jose defending was like basketball.

Well, saying he’s barely been picked, suggests it’d have made a difference had be played all season. As I said when he has been played he’s been rubbish.

We’ve seen it with lots of players in the past (Pellestri springs to mind), people seem to think you change a couple of personnel and we’ll be good again. The issue is far deeper than team selection.

FFS WE KNOW THIS

However. United did better than any of us could have imagined today. Lets face it we all expected a cricket score. Despite having the lazy qhunt Casemiro.

We showed better all around the pitch. Onana was immence. This is good for the Cup final and we have to take this improvement into next weeks games to get in the right mindset to deal with City.

Be prepared for hate from some of the simpletons who want Onana out of the club because he's "sh!t".

You're post is spot on btw.
