Disagree 100%.

1. Moyes football is brutal

2. Brendan is a class act and now the fans are finally behind him its show in our football.

Look at killie away, absolute masterclass.

Plus rodgers has a decent record in Europe and has a more pragmatic approach.

Moyes was only a suggestion, given he's won a European trophy with an unfancied club. His football is no worse than Rodgers. We played well at Rugby Park but I can count on one hand the number of good performances this season.

You're kidding yourself on if you think Rodgers has a good record in Europe. He'll drop us like a hot potato again if he gets an offer from the EPL.

So, I was one of the people who did not want him back. I was also one of the people fuming throughout the season at the abysmal turgid football on display. I was one of the people who was perma-raging at the team selection and the absolute dross players getting game time while Kyogo and Hatate were not starting.

However, I will give Rodgers some benefit of the doubt here and hindsight is a wonderful thing. He has had injuries most of the season to our key players CCV, Hatate and McGregor all being out at different points. I suspect he has learned how influential both Hatate and Kyogo are given how they have turned their seasons around. I would also say Rodgers has realised what type of games does not suit Kyogo and adapts.

He has been hamstrung by dross which I suspect he took some time to figure out they are dross or had no alternatives. Yang, Palma, Kuhn, Mikey Johnston, Holm, Bernabei. He has also decided that players like Oh and Lagerbielke are not good enough as well.

It is difficult to move them all on and replace them all so he has had to make do. Forrest hasn't suddenly become a world beater again though he does look fitter and sharper but it shows the level of the other players that Forrest is now a starter again.

Rodgers played the party line of he signed off on the players but I suspect he trusted the scouting reports.

I don't expect that to happen again next season so I will give Rodgers next season. The football we have played the past 2 months has been excellent to watch and that is with him having as strng a squad as we could have had. Bolster that squad, get rid of the dross and let's see if Rodgers MkII can do what we hoped he would

I think it will be a mistake to give him another season. I hope I'm proved wrong but I expect next season will be more of the same turgid football and very little progress in Europe. We're on a high having won the league but let's be honest we very nearly lost it to a poor Rangers team who had arguably worse injuries than we had and bottled it at Ross County and Dundee. We were a penalty shoot out away from not being in the cup final on Saturday. We might end up doing the double but that shouldn't mask that we're regressing as a team and I fear that will continue under Rodgers.

Rodgers is on my benefit of the doubt list just now. Definitely not the good guy list

The summer transfer dealings will be important. Will we get the usual Lawell summer? That might affect the quality that Rodgers expects

posted on 20/5/24

If it's a typical Lawwell summer I would have no hard feelings this time if Rodgers left. There's no reason now not to be able to push the boat out a bit. It's like the board ignore the running costs of collecting lots of dross, instead of 2 or 3 good players. I get it's not as easy as that to get them, but we paid good money for our best players and they are still our best, and in the case of Jota made a massive profit. Have to say though, I'm not optimistic

Get rid of a manager who is on track to win a league and cup double?

Do well in Europe?

Recognise the clusterfwck of our signing policy over the last 3 windows which the board no acknowledges and just assume it will be the same again?

Go out and try and get a better manager or an unknown who suddenly will have us a better side to watch?

Entitled or what?

Not entitled at all Ginger. I've been supporting Celtic since the mid to late 70s and have seen some really poor Celtic teams and watched us when Rangers dominated. There comes a point though when you need to have a bit more ambition than simply winning the SPL each year. That's not lunacy, it's hoping we can maybe improve in Europe and start building our reputation again.

As Ginger has said a few times, Celtic do not have the finances to properly compete with the elite teams in Europe. Changed times I’m afraid but until Celtic get tv riches we will need to settle for domestic dominance.

I don’t have any expectations in Europe, and haven’t for some time. Just as well, eh? I also appreciate it ain’t easy to attract quality to our league, and sadly that’s a slowly downward spiral that I can’t see changing. Having said all that though, I DO expect our recruitment to be far better than the last 2 shambolic windows. Hopefully that can only get better, but I still wouldn’t let BR anywhere near the sign off on any defenders, as he’s fecking clueless on that side of the game.

We can easily do better than the 2-3.5m gambles/projects and stop overloading the squad with dross. Financially we have probably never been in such good shape, including the CL guarantee coming up. We don't need to be struggling in the SPFL so often, to just make it over the finishing line. I know you agree though 👍

I’d also add … Stop with the Asian market already. We lucked out with Ange’s first foray, but it’s been brutal since … And also stop signing fecking midgets. There’s a reason we look like conceding every time a high ball arrives in our box, and it isn’t just because BR couldn’t organise a defence if his life depended on it (as Leicester fans will confirm). Our squad badly lacks height and physicality.

I'm more that happy for Brendan to stay.

If people think our board will shell out millions to get rid of him, they're barking mad.
If they're happy for the board to get rid of Brendan and believe they'll replace him with someone better, then they are beyond hope.

Scottish Premiership clubs have brought forward a resolution that aims to ban plastic pitches in the top flight of Scottish football.

Decided today in an SPFL board meeting, and later announced in a press release issued by the SPFL, clubs will be asked to vote on a decision to phase out artificial pitches in the Scottish Premiership.

The resolution requires nine out of 12 votes to be passed. Should that happen, a two-year grace period will be activated whereby clubs can plan accordingly.

At present, this impacts Kilmarnock only in the top league (David Martindale's Livingston will take part in the Scottish Championship next season following relegation this year) – but should the resolution be passed, artificial pitches will not be permitted in the Premiership from season 2026/27 onwards.

The statement read: "Clubs in the cinch Premiership have today brought forward a resolution seeking to phase out the use of artificial pitches in the SPFL top flight.

"The SPFL will now issue the resolution to all cinch Premiership clubs, and the outcome of that vote will be announced in due course. The resolution requires nine votes in favour to be passed.

"The SPFL Board has confirmed at a meeting today that if the resolution is approved, it will grant a two-year period to allow clubs with an artificial pitch to plan accordingly, with artificial pitches not permitted in the top division from season 2026/27.

"This period of grace is in line with recommendations of the SPFL Competitions Working Group, which represents member clubs across the SPFL.

"Separately, the SPFL Board has approved plans for a Premiership-wide project to work with a leading pitch consultancy firm, which is regularly used by UEFA, to improve the standards of grass pitches in the cinch Premiership."

Dundee came under fire earlier this season when a waterlogged pitch caused a Scottish Premiership encounter against Rangers to be postponed on two occasions.

The results of the resolution will be announced in due course.

Reality is if he wins fack all in europe and wins fack all cups but delivers the league every year then he stays, turgid or otherwise.

Football is mental and practicality & common sense are rare

occurrences. As I posted a few years back who would keep going to a

restaurant that consistently disappointed?

‘Backstabbing’ in the league run up aside.

Thing about Rodgers imo is that he isn’t likeable. Something of the Night

about the guy – comes across to me as shallow and insincere.

But there’s absolutely no doubt about this.

He is the best dance we’re gonna get for the foreseeable.

Absolutely no reason as to why we shouldn’t move to two to three £6-8m players of quality.

But that will get us nowhere further in Europe unless we really luck out in the draw. They could however help
Us qualify. But that’s it.

The league win will still give us the £3.8m and that’s it.

As for dumping Rodgers? Again, a ridiculous notion.

my opinions haven't changed.

his football is boring and there were far too many poor performances for my liking. Even in matches we won.

i don't think he was helped by our appalling transfer windows, yet again spearheaded by PL and his "sign brilliant players cheap so we can sell them" plan.

we won't progress as a club like that, its throwing schit at the wall and hoping it sticks.

Completely agree that the plastic pitches look brutal and can be terrible to play on. But I also see my local club raith rovers, who have a plastic pitch, their ground is in use 7 days a week with loads of kids football as well as the senior and junior teams playing and training on it. With the limited infrastructure that Kirkcaldy and raith have, the synthetic pitch has been a huge positive to the community and the club, as that would necessarily have to stop should they make it to the premiership and the vote goes the way we might expect.
