He’s getting sacked this week so let’s make sure we’re ready to comfort poor Plump when his hero walks out that door one last time.

It’ll be interesting to know if they’ve consulted the players on Ten Hag. Despite what others have said, I don’t think they’ve stopped playing for him and they look like they are really behind him.

Evans really got behind him. Said we should keep him. I think there is a good chance he will stay now.

It's been difficult,” said Evans. “I think the manager has handled it incredibly well. He's got on with it.

“Every time there's been a setback, and there seem to have been so many setbacks, each training session, each match, we've had changes to the squad - sometimes the day before the game - he's just taken it on the chin and got on with it.

“I think you've seen he was probably able to get his starting team, or close to it, on the pitch against City and they produced.

“We know how the manager is, he really analyses the game tactically, he's always thinking, he's thinking about the formations of teams. I think it was the last maybe month or so we've played more of a lower defensive, counter-attacking style.

“I thought we looked comfortable in that against City, and I think they force you into that anyway. So it was a chance for us to show we can do that.

“The club's been built on counter-attacking football, too, so there's a history behind that, and I thought the lads were incredible when we did win the ball back.

“We defended great and, when we did win the ball back, we showed great composure, taking that extra touch, playing that extra pass to get us up the pitch.

“Like I said before, he's handled it great and he's been amazing for me to be able to come back in. I know there have been a lot of injuries and that, but he's always shown faith in me, never any problems with that, so I can only thank him for it.”

Haven’t seen that. We’ll have to wait and see, I’m not really sure what will happen because we don’t know enough about Ineos and how they want to move the club forward.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Evans as well. He’s been so much better than I think most expected, especially given how much he’s played.

If he isn’t retained, I wonder if he’ll be kept on in a coaching capacity to play in the u21s. Huddlestone has left now so there’s an opening there for someone to step in.

It’s hard to tell with a cup final though as that’s when players will try their hardest despite what they think of a manager

By the way what happened to Antony. For 2 seasons, he actually thought he was unbenchable, last few games he hasn't even gotten a sub appearance. Was he instructed?

McT, Martinez and Bruno have all made really supportive statements this weekend as well, and much of it seems to have been unprompted.

I get the impression that the players know that as a unit they really haven’t delivered satisfactorily this season and that they’ve let the fans and the manager down. Some (Bruno and Dalot, particularly) seem legitimately upset/angry about it.

Personally, I wouldn’t be devastated if Ten Hag were to be given his marching orders now; but if I were Ineos, I’d be keeping him on next season for multiple reasons.

Complete the reset of the sporting hierarchy, let them get their feet under the table and the high level long-term strategy in place, concentrate the focus where it needs to be (squad trimming with the wage budget in mind; developing and communicating out the strategy across the club; starting the reset of the data and analytics, scouting, medical, academy accordingly, etc.), then start looking at who might replace ETH next summer in line with the sporting strategy and what they’ll to need to support them.
