Which is fine, but not the question.
We never learn as a country do we? Every single time there’s a change in government we convince ourselves it can’t be any worse than the previous lot and that this new bunch are going to change Britain. Every single time we’re left disappointed
Blair - ended up practically committing war crimes based on false information and becoming Bush’s poodle.
Brown -Simply awful - announced he’d eradicated boom and bust before the financial crisis and sold off UKs gold reserves at historic lows.
Tory/Lib - Used the nations finances as an excuse to roll out a damaging programme of austerity we’ve never recovered from
Cameron - Gave the UK a Brexit vote to win power
Johnson - lied about everything
It doesn’t matter. UK politics is fundamentally broken and those anti-tories ready to celebrate tomorrow are in for an almighty shock in 2 years
Guess where we will back to then? The rise of the far right

On a personal level I’ve done alright from the Tories, I always voted Tory, even though I haven’t always agreed with everything they’ve done, I also voted to remain.
There has to be something mentally wrong with a person to vote for the Tories after the last 14 years.
And after all this millions will still vote for them today, mental.

Excellent summary, Rosso. Two comments:
- It's quite extraordinary that most of this, including the top three, hasn't featured in the election, and isn't even being mentioned by Labour. One of the reasons I worry that they can come back. Everyone hates them now, but I don't think it's particularly deeply understood why they deserve it.
- In the context of the popularity of Reform nationally and, apparently, in this forum, worth noting that Farage has no significant differences with the Tories when it comes to pretty much all of these things. He lavishly praised Truss's budget. He has the authoritarian streak, the populist dishonesty. The libertarianism that lay behind keeping business open rather than saving lives.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think both of those points can be covered to a not insignificant extent by the fact that strong media narratives and various dubiously-funded social media campaigns had between them (and still have, I’m quite sure) very many people believing that austerity was necessary, that there is at least one of an infinite number of timelines in which Brexit might have been (and even might yet be) a success, and that lockdowns were an WEF conspiracy designed to enact total control of our movements.
