A 16 year old for Spain had a much better tournament than Saka. Our players are massively overrated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That 16 year old outshone just about everyone. 1 phenom does not negate the ability of every other player on the continent you whopper
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Score Kane, Foden Bellingham Saka and Rice out of 10 for the tournament.

If you give any of them above a 6 you're delusional.

Kane and Foden would be as low as a 3/4 for me. Rice probably 5. Saka and Bellingham a generous 6.

None of our so called stars showed up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Id have Saka slightly higher but the rest a 3 or 4.

The biggest issue to me throughout was Bellinghams position and how he played it, said it after the first game and it remained right through to the final.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So Southgate got England to another final despite none of his big players turning up?

That doesn’t sound impressive you guys?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As per my next comment, the reason why some of them I’d mark low is due to how Southgate set them up.

Our xG from open play in every knockout game was less than our opposition. That doesn’t scream impressive, that screams fortuitous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But our plan, like the French was that our attacking players were better than the majority - Xgoals doesn’t take into account the ability of the attacker. A chance falling for a Georgian striker or falling for Mbappe are 2 different things.

It was only the Spain game where we came up against a side with as much attacking talent as we have.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s a ridiculous plan though.

This is the whole problem. This is how you set up when you're up against teams much better than you and you hope for a piece of individual brilliance from your two or three good players. Like Georgia did for example.

This comes apart against the teams you're expected to beat as they have players who are used to that for their clubs. It's why England actually looked better against NL and Spain. With the easy fixtures England had, if they'd been playing proper football, they could have really built up a lot of confidence by blowing some of those teams away, like Spain did to Georgia and carried that into the more difficult games in the semi and final.

Instead the players were under pressure the whole way through the tournament scraping wins.

Should be sacked today.

Look at that Spain side looking at Williams and Rodri to arguably get into the england team thats it. People will start saying nonsense like Fabian over Rice, no fan of rice but he is better.

Not enough is made that we are complete powerhouses. We have never been outclassed just negative tactics cost us.

The two goals last night the majority could see coming Walker pulling too tight into Stones space, Saka a non-entity on the right hand side no tracking back. It was so amateur. Tactically clueless.

Southgate is a nice person, but that gets him to much grace from the world.

Walker ball watching wasn't Southgates's fault?

Needs to go. Why is he even getting time to decide what he gets to do? The decision shouldn't be his to make.

He is showing he is a nearly man with the best possible conditions to succeed. Better than any previous England manager before. Not just generous draws, great players at his disposal, other bits of luck in games, but just the actual timing of him managing now. We're in an era where the strong teams on the international scene aren't as strong, we've got winter breaks now (something that was often blamed for our players being tired), we're allowed bigger squads in tournaments since Southgate, and we're producing better players I think due to more recent changes with kids development in football.

He's got a great squad of attacking talent right now, and we keep struggling to go in front to teams or even score more than a goal a game. Probably our best performer in the tournament was a defender. Says it all really.

He has to go because he looked scared throughout the tournament.

It was horrible seeing him look broken in interviews at the end.

BUT he looked a wreck in every game, cutting a lonely figure sitting with hands under his chin throughout the tournament.

I feel sorry fo him. He just never looks like he wants to be there.
