Joking aside, I don’t hate the guy at all. One of the best DM’s of his generation, he was good for 5ish months for us and really admired his passion.
I never wanted us to sign him for similar reasons I hope we stay well clear of Rabiot. I thought it was a mistake and while I get plenty wrong, it’s hard to say I was wrong there.
Since March 2023 he’s mainly been terrible, not average, not poor but terrible.
A bit like Ronaldo, if he’s playing regularly for us we can forget about significant progress imo.

I don't hate Casemiro from his debut season, maybe he simply just gave it everything. Every tackle, pass, shot, header went his way. He was immense. He was doing the sort of things we rarely saw him do at Real because there he won the ball and passed to either Kroos or Modric. He did the ugly stuff well. At Utd he was being asked to do more.
Last season was probably a good example of where we expected Casemiro to be at post Real, maybe not as extreme but somewhere in-between, his debut season was therefore a one-off.

"98 - Manuel Ugarte made 98 tackles in just 25 Ligue 1 games in the 2023-24 season, the most of any player; it is more tackles than any Manchester United midfielder has made in any of the last 18 seasons. Solution."

He'll be averaging about 98 a game for us, considering how often we give the ball away.

Latest doing the rounds on X: Martin Zubimendi! If PSG are asking for stupid money, allegedly £70m for Ugarte, we should walk away.
A comparitive look at both players shows Ugarte excel in most areas like ground duals won, interceptions, touches, ball recoveries, least number of possession lost and tackles made. Zubimemdi excels in the air and clearances. Ugarte excels in most of the metrics and stats would suggest is the superior of the two, Zubimemdi is not a million miles behind in most areas. If anything, if we were forced to sell both Casemiro and McT I would love us to get Ugarte and Zubimemdi, very unlikely.

I thought Zubimendi was more of a midfield controller than a ‘destroyer’ type. Looks a lot more calm in possession and under pressure, with a forward pass in him. From what little I’ve seen of Ugarte for Uruguay (never seen him for PSG) he was a million mph and everywhere snapping into tackles, a nuisance.

Zubimemdi very similar to Mainoo? We definitely need a destroyer type in our CM and you're right Ugarte loves a tackle and can be reckless but tends to leave his mark to say to the opposition you're not going to have it all your way, typical Keano type.
