4 pens against Burnley denied and we concede a pen for a coming together. A day later Man City keeper does a 10x worse challenge and gets a freekick. Liverpool in the league was a dive penalty. Liverpool in the FA Cup was a clear foul on Fernandes. We were denied a clear penalty against Forest in fa cup game. We were denied a clear penalty for handball against Coventry and there pen was never a penalty. Even in FA Cup final McTominay was cleaned out in the box near start of 2nd half abd VAR brushed it but same VAR gave a pen against Hojlund for common contact in the box at OT. In away game against Man City Walker does a professional foul to stop a one on one with the keeper and then City score. Palace away clear fouls against us at one end leads to Palace scoring at the other end. Light challenge is a disallowed goal instead. Spurs away Romero saves a shot with hand and no penalty. In home game Udogie wrestles Garnach down, Udogie knows it is a clear penalty and ref ignores it completely. I could go on for another 5 hours if I wanted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow that's a lot of bad luck! Do you think wolves deserved a penalty after onana assaulted their player in the box on last seasons opening day?

No, as Dermot Gallagher confirmed that this only became a penalty offence in the aftermath of the Onana incident.

Gallagher and many other people were fine with it when the Wolves keeper did it v Leeds the previous season.

They have to go back a year to give an example of a decision that United may have got. Tells you everything.

Time to accept that Maguire and Evans will be our main centre back pairing this season
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Evans is our oldest yet most reliable CB. He played more
mins than all the other ones last season for us. 😂

Mainoo Shaw Martinez Garnacho are all only going to have a maximum of 90mins in their legs too which is a huge concern going into Fulham.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is a blatant lie.

Yes, I know.

As I said, Dermot Gallagher and many others were fine with it when it didn't involve United.

"You wouldn't normally get a penalty for that," I believe Gallagher said about the almost identical Leeds v Wolves incident, so it's odd that his view changed so radically in the space of a few months.

The United effect.

I was trying to trigger an essay or two from hafi, but you seem to genuinely think it wasn't a penalty I'll leave you be

posted on 28/7/24

He’s not saying that, to be fair.

posted on 28/7/24

Dermot Gallagher et al didn't think it was a penalty until a United player did it.

Obviously when Onana does it and no penalty is given it almost causes World War III.

The United effect.

Wolves got a pen for nothing in 3-4 game
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Without wanting to come over all Hafi (had to check I worded that carefully...), he does quite often have a point about decisions.

Like the one he mentioned here v Wolves.

Casemiro makes no contact whatsoever on the Wolves player after swiping and missing both ball and man. Ref gives a pen.

Var for that game was Paul Tierney, who after watching the replay several times, backed up the ref's (mistaken) belief that the challenge warranted a pen.

24 hours earlier Tierney reffed the Liverpool game v Chelsea. VVD kicked Conor Gallagher up in the air, blatant penalty. Later on VVD then hacked Nkunku from behind. Blatant penalty. Just after these incidents, Chowmein Kellerher punched Colwill in the face while attempting to clear a cross. Blatant penalty given what had been said after the much publicised Onana incident.

Tierney viewed all 3 of these challenges as insufficient contact to award a foul. Yet he recommended a penalty for no contact 24 hours later...

You're right. It was Maguire. I did see someone say it the other day on this forum and assumed it was correct. My mistake.

He was only 300mins behind him though so it wasn't far off.

Is there any positives?….

That first 20 mins… some of the best football under Ten Hag. Arsenal didn’t know how to handle it.
