It was a charity game yes, but TBH it still hurt us at Wembley this afternoon when City (they are our local rivals so it will always mean and matter no matter what) equalised and when Jonny went for 3 points with his sudden death penalty, after we did so well take the lead. Especially after making the journey to London and all that banter on the way and back with them blues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Performance was more important, that gave me more satisfaction. No one likes losing games, least of all a derby, friendly or otherwise, but the point we're all trying to make is we don't count it as a trophy. Boris does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LOL of course its not a proper trophy. Although Pep seemed to think it was today.

Who is we btw?

Its the performance and result that counts. We were the better team but City won the game. On pens. Fill yer boots Binky.

But I know many other City fans that I have have to deal with. And thousand I dont know like today. Its complicated being a Manc football supporter

You might get it one day too.

I'm a Utd supporter so if I use we in this context I mean Utd fans. It's a presumptive statement, I know, but I doubt very much most consider the trophy anything other than a pre season trophy, which it is. I personally do not count it as a major trophy.

And no need to for the snobbery 😏😉. You do this intentionally or possibly without any intent (possibly tongue in cheek, I don't know), but I will obviously never know what it is to be a manc 🤣. Right, whatever it is, is it confined to just Mancs and only a manc will get this? 🤔... Whatever it is, is it also reserved for match going Mancs too?! FFS! I reckon you're drunk. 😂

Nobody considers the CS as a major Trophy.

If it was Chelsea or Arsenal I wouldnt have gone tbh. Ive been to over 10 CS games over the years. I stopped counting a long time ago. Its because its City and they beat us after we played well that makes me it matters to me.

Im tired because Ive just driven back from London after getting beat buy City. It matters. Im not a snob at all. What a daft thing to say.

Where do you hail from Vengeance. What is your local
team that you chose to support United over? And what do think of them? You know about me. Share something about yourself, so I can judge you as you judge me.

I hail from Lancashire by birth, family moved down south when I was very young. Utd from day one.

Glad to know you're not a snob. It comes across slightly differently given you are a match going fan, this elevates you to lofty heights and your views are sacrosanct your holiness 🤣

Well I respect you more if your fam are from Lancs/Mancs originally. Must have been tough been at school down South and been a Man United fan with roots on a daily basis during the Fergie years. Glory hunters were rife. When I was at school evereybody and I mean everybody was a Red or Blue. Nobody else. But Im talking pre- Fergie/internet days. It was a different football world then. Most football fans who supported Man United tjhen who lived down South in the days were so because they like the awayday aggro that following United offered.

posted on 11/8/24

Actually growing up a Utd fan down south was not tough at all. Utd were not a local club per se but a global one so that standing meant it wasn't really frowned upon. I was surrounded by Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal fans back then.

I think now I get what you mean when you say it's complicated. If you grew up in an area that was either red or blue then the rivalry was/is intense, it is felt in every way. So, anything that gives you a bragging right, even if the trophy is CS, is still worth bragging about! I get it.

I was quite pleased with some of the football we played yesterday.

Shame City won but quite a few positives and new signings on the horizon as well.

My boots were filled, we had 2 teenagers making their debuts in the our starting line up, we had another couple of acadamy products who haven't had 5 starts between them, we also had a galaxy of top players missing too.

I'd say United were bettter on a ratio of 60/40, possibly higher over the 90 minutes but I wouldn't be too excited considering the opposition on the day - Who were you missing apart from Shaw and Hojlund?

Bragging rights are important if you live in Manchester, my FB page was rammed with people I literally hadn't heard from in years when you won the FA Cup

Winning on pens was also important on a club level after the disappointment against Real Madrid, I don't recall the media saying we were unlucky then.

I don't actually know I didn't see the game, just the goals.
But does it matter?

Boris,

Let's be honest, you got lucky, we let you off the hook by missing so many chances, should have been 4-0 at one stage. No wonder Pep was apoplectic!

We were missing Walker, Stones and Rodri. Any team would have had scoring oppurtunities with those absentees.

I'd be quite worried about your finishing if Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho are going to be your major threat this season.

Over the last 4 years, the team that lost the Community Shield went on to win the league.

That's an excuse. You have a squad FFS.

You need to thank Marcus for bagging a pre season trophy that no one, other than you, cares about 😂

Well that should be League Title, FA Cup or CS if you insist on including last season.
