Rashford not had a shot yet has he?
Nope but he’s created more big chances than KDB and Odegaard etc
Our problem - or one of them - is that we can’t take the chances we make
For me, the question is if over the last 5 years you are happy with what Rashford has given us. Overall my answer is not really - when he's on it, he's a great player, but no-one is on it all the time, but his peaks are a lot fewer than his troughs.
Ideally you would want his average performance to be 7/10, but it's usually nearer the 5 mark for me.
This is what I see with my own eyes. Unfortunately for him the expectation is very high, and he's probably not actually good enough to fulfil that - however, he is falling way short of what we both need and what he should expect from himself.
It does baffle me that 3 seasons in getting a goalscorer isn't part of the manager's thinking.

Nope but my point is that he’s creating chances. And these are big chances that a more seasoned goalscorer would be finishing. We for some reason have decided to trust in youth as our striker which is a tactic I don’t think has worked much if at all for a top side over the years and is looking like it’s going to cost us this season just as it did last.
I saw him getting slated yesterday but he did create your two best chances.
Zirkzee is 23 though, not 18, not that I think he missed because of his age.
It’s early days but technically he looks really quite poor.

Yeah it's not rashford fault others can't take their chances. That striker looks rubbish.
Fair comment on Zirkzee from what we've seen too far. Not on Hojlund though, who has a superion conversion rate in the PL than both Kane and Tony. And doesnt take penalties. Let's just see how he gets on when he returns and hope that Rashford is still creating chances
People keep harping on about a great transfer window. How many of the players get in the top 3 teams? Probably none of them right now.
Liverpool closed the gap by signing Alison, VVD, Salah and Mane. Average players didn't do it for them.
That's why I said it was 6 or 7 out of 10 at best.
Our attack isn’t clinical or creative enough. We don’t have any players that can be relied on to perform consistently. Even Bruno, despite what stats say, is massively inconsistent.
Lmao. It's that the spin we are taking today.

Seasoned United fans will already have recognised and accepted that Circuszee hasn’t got what it takes to be a United player. Mediocre ability.

A 1 in 4 strike rate for a club like Bologna was the bigger clue.
This is the new United standard though. Lower than a snake's belly.
He only got in the Dutch Euros Squad at the last minute because of a few injuries and they have Gakpo, Depay and Weghorst upfront.
He might prove me wrong but I very much doubt it. He doesn't have the pedigree to play in the PL and score the goals we need him to.
We've spent £600m and have Hojlund and Zirkzee as our main two forwards. That's just not good enough to compete in this league. We will struggle to score more than 55 PL goals yet again whilst the top 3 all score 85/90+

They were about as known as some of our signings, they were just developed well be an amazing coach.

Mane had something about him though.
Pace, directness, no feckin about. Wasn't difficult to see that he would be a good player and he was already doing it in the premier league.
Being coached by someone competent does help for sure.
We are spending tons on nobodies who have barely made an impact in far lesser leagues.
Mount is probably our best signing on paper. Proven player for a top club, but he's a crock and should never have been bought.
Was meant to say best signing on paper if it wasn't for his injuries*

I feel we suffer from poor memories. Best signing how? A player Chelsea let go so easily. A few good games and ....
I get you, i just think ST85's point is a bit simplistic regarding the "Average players didn't do it for them" ...
Liverpool went out and got a lively player from Saints and a journeyman who'd had a couple of ok seasons in Italy and redefined their attack. They didn't go and buy the cream of the crop.
Are we really judging Zirkzee after 3 games? After he came on and finished well for his goal against Fulham, we were suddenly going, 'great buy', now he's missed a couple of easy ones, it's 'terrible buy'.
Let's at least allow him a run of games to show what he can do etc.
Rashford is not our only problem, we have so many, but it's easier to make a judgment on him as he has been here so long, and without going round in circles, for me he's simply not been good enough. This is purely a footballing judgment, nothing else.
Let's also not judge how the transfer window has been based on yesterday - players need time to settle in etc.
But ETH needs to get the ball rolling quickly. It's crazy to suggest he should be sacked right now, but for his sake, he needs a great deal improvement over the next half dozen games to show he is making some process. He's into his third year, he's not going to get a lot of slack from fans, which isn't surprising, and personally I feel it's simply a case of when he goes, not if.

Chelsea's player of the year two years running. Proven in the PL. Young, energetic, scored goals. Then he became a sick note and we bought him anyway.
My point was, Mane was already doing it in the PL and it was easy to see he'd do well at a top club.
We seem to be buying unproven players in weaker leagues for ridiculous amounts of money.
