Watch yetserday's game again. Not highlights, the whole game and try and watch players specifically when they havent got the ball as best you can. (Its hard I know cos TV cameras just follow the ball).
Its pretty obvious why we were well beaten. It had nothing to do with Mount being injured or Hojlund either. If both them played we would have still have defended so badly in front of our goal.
And if we had won yesterday you wouldnt have started this conversation.
I agree we need to see if this poor start to the season is because of the circumstances of new, unfit players starting a new season plus one or two injuries .. or if its a continuation of the pattern that we saw last season that the players refuse/cant do on the big pitch what they have been instructed to do all week at Carrington. If its the latter and we continue to play poorly and lose games it cant continue until Christmas before INEOS act.
These are the facts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A fair post. But the defence has a new centre back in it and a new full back. The other full back being played out of position. And it was first time out for the CB pairing yet again. In fact s defence that had never played together before.
I'm sure he would like a new left full back and great dtriker, but he didn't get them.
Think you need to look more at mentality tbh.
If you google EtHs biggest losses, and not just Utd but throughout his career , quite often when he loses a game, he doesn’t just lose, they get absolutely battered.
You started the game decently I thought, De Ligt looked okay, Dalot too and Diaz wasn’t getting a sniff from the left either.
One mistake and the system is in tatters with two players free at the back post (for the second week in a row).
Utd then just folded, giving the ball away, positional oh awful, poor discipline and stopped tracking runners.
Came into it a little bit second half, and Utd certainly should have scored, but didn’t.
An easy win really. At Old Trafford.

Never hear Pep complaining about injuries even when he’s without de Bruyne for 2/3’s of a season.
It’s a squad game, and inability to cope with injuries is most definitely a stick with which to beat a manager. Let’s be honest, Hojlund and Mount are not world beaters; they shouldn’t be that difficult to replace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
De Bruyne is one player. We had a full team out last year in total. It's most definitely a valid reason whey you have the number we had.
Nobody's talking about world class, but we had to play Zirkzee for his first full game and against Liverpool.
With either Mount or particularly Ugarte available I doubt Casemiro starts
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You talking about the same Casemiro that United and ETH paid £65M for 2 seasons ago and pay god knows how much to each week?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ETH didn't pay or negotiate for him, and he won't know his wages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He would've had a say on him coming to the club, just like Anthony and Onana. Huge amounts of money wasted on players that aren't good enough or in Casemiro's case, finished.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Casemiro had a very good first season, nobody saw the sudden decline
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not true. Some of us questioned his age against the length of his lucrative contract and how that would impact on a 34/5 year old playing in a 2 man midfield nearer the end of his contract.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which some, or do you mean yourself. And his fee, length of contract or salary are nothing to do with ETH
52 I think pretty much everyone thought Erik was facked at the end of last season and I mean everyone. We got that incredible cup win and the general consensus was give him a shot this season given the mitigating factors .
Yesterday defeat and the manner of it cannot be put down to injuries
There really isn't a division in the fan base regarding eric this season and injury excuses as I said aren't going to hack after a performance like yesterday

I agree with all that. But it was a defence that had never played together before, Casemiro in poor form, a striker playing his first full game.
I do think we miss a true captain, and Bruno isn't one.
you really need that Ugarte signing to really slap
amazing how fans and supporters see different things from their team in both defeat and victory.
Phew, I'm done here. I've made my point of view as best I can.
I don't think Erik is the new Alex, but I think all the mitigating factors give him a little time to show what he can do with less injuries and the new players bedded in.
I can assure you all that if he fails I will want out as much as you.
Yesterday was poor viewing,, but it was one game, as was the match four games ago.
Ugarte isn't going to fix everything. This is a managerial and tactical issue. Ugarte might slightly improve us but it won't be enough to make up for 101 other sins.
The people who have watched Ugarte more than I have say his passing isn't his strength either. He's a warrior and a defensive juggernaut but is quite mediocre on the ball hence why Enrique wanted him gone.
Our issues won't stop until we cut ties with the manager and get somebody in who doesn't set us up to fail most weeks. We are one of the easiest teams to play against in this division.
What an absolute farce how we might have to waste yet another season and £200m finding this out though. A lot of us knew this months ago.
INEOS haven't done themselves any favours here bowing down to fan pressure. Their decision to speak to other managers was the correct one and they ultimately bottled it. An expensive mistake.

I do think we miss a true captain, and Bruno isn't one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We miss leadership both on and off the pitch. I don't feel communication is one of ETH's strengths, as the team has often struggled to implement what he wants. I also don't think he truly inspires the players, or they really enjoy playing under him - I make the judgment simply on what we see on the pitch week in week out. How many of us watch Utd and genuinely think, wow, that was good to watch today - I don't mean in terms of winning a cup final against City etc, but just our week in week out perfomances - they aren't great to watch, so if fans feel like that, it can't be a shock that the players may feel that also.
Bruno isn't a great captain, we don't seem to have many leaders on the pitch. Football these days is no longer about having a Keane / Robson type character (although it does no harm), but about all the players taking responsibility and be mentally strong during matches.
But it stems from a true connection between ETH and the players, and I've never felt we had that - the may talk and say they do, but the actions suggest otherwise
Think your biggest problem is that Casemiro hasn’t been one of the injuries.

True, two who finished above us also had a bad season with injuries, but we won the cup, also a fact. They won nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to remind you what you said:
"Not excuses, reasons. Name me the teams who finished above us last season who had anything remotely like the number of injuries we had."
What does winning a cup have to do with injuries, especially as you are making the case that your injuries were the reason for under performing. Your argument is all over the place.
Yesterday was sh-t, we can all see that. We can also see that so far EtH hasn't done a great job but he's been backed this summer and should be at least given the season to show once and for all what he can do.
We've finally seen us looking competant in the transfer market and have moved on a hell of a lot of craap that was way overdue. Getting this squad to be mentally strong isn't going to happen overnight but with a proper set up at the club I do think we have to at least see what EtH can do this season.
I have no idea whether EtH is the answer (probably unlikely) but moaning about it like a little b-tch 3 games in is just stupid.
Let's see what the team can do when the defence are more familiar with one another, we have a proper DM in Ugarte in the side giving us some desperately needed bite and energy in the middle, our strikers back fit and settled and gaining a better understanding of one another. If we are still seeing the same issues and the football isn't good enough then by all means sack EtH but let him actually try something with the players he was given this summer.

It's not the truth, it's opinions. What I've said in my defence is also true, this giving my opinion.
By the way we've signed so many Dutch players, former Ajax players and missed out on Ryan Gravenberch who is both,
I don't think Erik is the new Alex, but I think all the mitigating factors give him a little time to show what he can do with less injuries and the new players bedded in.
___
I think most posters on here think this. We have no choice anyway. INEOS have made their bed with Ten Hag in it and spent hundreds of £££millions backing him this summer. So as a United supporter I will give TH the time INEOS want give him to prove his worth with these players. So to sack him on the last 2 results alone would be daft. Give him till December to get some results together with his new players so we are in touch with top 4 and then lay off him. But if the bad results continues into Sept and Oct, INEOS have to act before Christmas, if the writing is on the wall.
Although as an Old Skool United fan as I am, I think getting panned by Liverpool at home IS a sackable offence...( until the pain and enbarrassment subsides anyway.) The Monday morning afterwards is really not the time to do this.

An expensive mistake.

amazing how fans and supporters see different things from their team in both defeat and victory.

I agree with all that. But it was a defence that had never played together before, Casemiro in poor form, a striker playing his first full game.
I do think we miss a true captain, and Bruno isn't one.

Phew, I'm done here. I've made my point of view as best I can.
I don't think Erik is the new Alex, but I think all the mitigating factors give him a little time to show what he can do with less injuries and the new players bedded in.
I can assure you all that if he fails I will want out as much as you.
