I don't think Erik is the new Alex, but I think all the mitigating factors give him a little time to show what he can do with less injuries and the new players bedded in.

___

I think most posters on here think this. We have no choice anyway. INEOS have made their bed with Ten Hag in it and spent hundreds of £££millions backing him this summer. So as a United supporter I will give TH the time INEOS want give him to prove his worth with these players. So to sack him on the last 2 results alone would be daft. Give him till December to get some results together with his new players so we are in touch with top 4 and then lay off him. But if the bad results continues into Sept and Oct, INEOS have to act before Christmas, if the writing is on the wall.

Although as an Old Skool United fan as I am, I think getting panned by Liverpool at home IS a sackable offence...( until the pain and enbarrassment subsides anyway.) The Monday morning afterwards is really not the time to do this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How I agree with that. It's funny really I like Liverpool and the people who live there, but in football terms they are enemy number one.

Phew, I'm done here. I've made my point of view as best I can.
I don't think Erik is the new Alex, but I think all the mitigating factors give him a little time to show what he can do with less injuries and the new players bedded in.
I can assure you all that if he fails I will want out as much as you.
Yesterday was poor viewing,, but it was one game, as was the match four games ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And six one stars, I gutted (not really)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the chickens are coming home to the roost for some of you sadly.

You didn't want to hear the truth or weren't ready to accept it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not the truth, it's opinions. What I've said in my defence is also true, this giving my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone has their own opinion.

Emotions and club bias aside, I seriously cannot see what Eth is doing for the club.

There is no style of play. The defence is all over the place and has been since he joined. The attack is inconsistent. The midfield gets overrun nearly every single game, by opponents who really shouldn't be getting anywhere near us.
He's spent a ton of money on absolute crap, and not improved the squad a single bit with the money spent. Bruno was given an extension on his contract, when really he should've been shown the door at the end of it.

The things I have seen in the first 3 games is almost the same crap we saw last season.

Where is the progression?

The only thing Eth, (or someone at the club) has done right is get rid of dross like awb, sancho and other players who weren't good enough.
He now needs to get rid of Antony, Onana, Eriksen, Maguire, Lindleoff, casemiro, Bruno and rashford and get actual decent replacements.

**********************************************

How is that a plus? Considering his preferred options? Getting rid of players was the job and Ineos and they will rightly get the credit to it. My greatest flaw with him is his persistence in the same mistakes, in player choices and his application in formations that will clearly not work.

Credit? Mainoo, Amad and Garnacho. If he relied more on his youngsters than the experience he likes he will be a long way ahead of his assimilation of his style.

He shouldn't be given another penny or any player recommendations. Giving him another 1bn wouldn't make him a top coach. He just doesn't get it. The tactics are shambolic.

The plan now should be how and when we replace him. He's failed. We aren't improving one bit.

INEOS are on a sticky wicket with me already for bottling that decision over the summer. Always trust your gut.

He will need to reach January top 2 for them to even look at him for any advice. They will regret actually still considering his opinions when bringing in players which you can clearly see the ones they like.

Yesterday was sh-t, we can all see that. We can also see that so far EtH hasn't done a great job but he's been backed this summer and should be at least given the season to show once and for all what he can do.

We've finally seen us looking competant in the transfer market and have moved on a hell of a lot of craap that was way overdue. Getting this squad to be mentally strong isn't going to happen overnight but with a proper set up at the club I do think we have to at least see what EtH can do this season.

I have no idea whether EtH is the answer (probably unlikely) but moaning about it like a little b-tch 3 games in is just stupid.

Let's see what the team can do when the defence are more familiar with one another, we have a proper DM in Ugarte in the side giving us some desperately needed bite and energy in the middle, our strikers back fit and settled and gaining a better understanding of one another. If we are still seeing the same issues and the football isn't good enough then by all means sack EtH but let him actually try something with the players he was given this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is how I feel.

Being our manager under the previous sheeet show is simply not fair. If he finishes anything like 8th again this year (with or without a trophy) then fine - adios Mr Ten Hag. Until then, give him a fair chance after being backed to see what he can do.

How many players & managers need to come here and be diabolical before people realise that something else, much larger, is / has been the problem.

I like what INEOS are trying to do, we're not being bullied into poor transfer decisions, we've tried to fix the footballing operations, even the little things like trying to bring a pre match song for fans at Old Trafford.

It isn't a one window fix though, we're hamstrung by a squad bloated with average footballers on high salaries and hight financial transitions of seasons gone by.

Sounds like we’re living Eriksen on. Not a big fan but we clearly lack numbers at CM and he’s better than nothing surely?

Maybe a move for Rabiot (who I’m also not a fan of) is needed just so we can actually field midfielders if we get a couple injuries.

I'd also move for Rabiot too as I think we need to think of Mainoo's development. He can't play every game and we don't want him to burn out so an experienced French international wouldn't be a bad signing.

On Eriksen I think if Collyer comes on before you do then it shows where you are in the pecking order. Eriksen does have his weaknesses but I thought if we were to get back in the game yesterday he could have added something from deep.

There's a list here of free agents (not sure how up to date it is but pretty recent I believe) and if we're looking to solve our left wing problem there's a certain Frenchman on that list...

I'm really aware of all the personal issues surrounding Rabiot, but whenever I've seen him play I've been impressed.

I read a story the other day that Rabiot refused us in 2022 because he watched Lou Macari slagging him off on MUTV and was upset and refused the deal. If that’s true (may well be total BS) then he might struggle a bit being criticised by the fans and media.

The irony is that two years ago we seemed pretty relieved we were getting Casemiro and not Rabiot. I wonder how things would have panned out had we got Rabiot as originally planned? Now, I'm sure most of us would take the trade.

He really needed to be sold this summer

Most of us would probably have kept Amrabat ahead of him

Seemed like no one was interested in Casemiro and we didn’t own Amrabat. Hopefully Casemiro is sold and replaced asap.

If Rabiot got upset with what Lou Macari said about him on MUTV to the extent he refused a move, then we probably dodged a bullet there.

The talk of Saudi interest was just that or unfortunately didn't interest Casemiro.

Don't know who else would be mad or stupid enough to take him at this stage
