It seems that Michigonians(*), or whatever they are called,
are more inclined towards Fatso than most others by all accounts !........'kin'ell !
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Most recent polls have Harris slightly ahead in Michigan, apparently.

(*Michiganders I think is the most popular demonym)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not according to the BBC they ain't !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know what source the Beeb is using. I checked across several polling aggregator sites, and they seemed to pretty consistently award Harris a slight advantage in Michigan - roughly 2 points on average.

Michigan has a large Muslim community in Dearborn which are angry at Genocide Joe’s handling of the Palestine genoicde which is why it’s not certain to turn blue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Moore has been making a big thing about this.

I think one of the big dilemmas, maybe the biggest, for the Democrats is how to appeal to the centre/undecided voters without demobilising the more radical, ideologically-driven arm.

I don't think Trump is in any great risk of demobilising his hardcore followers, because his support, unlike Harris's, has a very strong personality cult element to it. I think the only thing that might demobilise them would be believing the race is lost, and Harris is nowhere near the threshold she might need for that to happen.

Still some time to go in the race, but if the election was to take place right now, I think Trump would still win it, possibly with a bit to spare.

.......................

1. Michigan is already blue. What you mean is that it might turn Red.

2. Biden, for all his faults does not run Israel or anywhere else in the Mid East. You have been told this countless times by other people on here. Your hatred should be directed at Israel not the President of the USA.

The president of the USA has been signing off multiple legislations to arm and enable Israel to slaughter Palestinians for fun and bomb them to smithereens. So yes, I hold him personally responsible for what’s happening in Palestine as much as I do Israel.

..............

Then you are an idiot, which will not come as a shock to most people on here.

Biden is not the one giving the orders to Israel to bomb Gaza. Netanyahu is.

And Bidens last approved Arms sale to Israel will not even take delivery until 2026.

Israel has a very proactive arms industry of it's own.

I find it very odd that you never blame Iran for any of the wrong doings in the Mid East. Or their own terrorist organization.

posted on 12/9/24

The president of the US has absolutely nothing to do with the Palestinian slaughter and I’m the idiot? You’ve just said yourself he’s arming Israel so you’ve proved my point.

The Iran statement just proves you’re a Zionist shill with no clue what you’re talking about. It wasn’t Iran that forced Palestinians out of their homeland and then spend the best part of 75 years to erase any means of them from their own country.

posted on 12/9/24

And Biden, plus multiple past Western leaders, have been happy for Israel to slaughter their own citizens in the face of protest for Palestinian freedom and they’ve let them get away with it with 0 consequence.

Unless you’re stupid enough to believe the latest American killed in the West Bank last week was because the bullet bounced off the floor and into her head randomly like your precious Genocide Joe said.

The United States has approved another $20bn in weapons transfers to Israel, despite concerns that Israeli forces are routinely violating international law in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

The order includes Boeing-made F-15 fighter jets, Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles, or AMRAAMs, 120mm tank ammunition and high explosive mortars and tactical vehicles.

Some of the weapons, including the more than 50 fighter jets, could take years to deliver. Other equipment, such as 33,000 tank shells and 50,000 explosive mortar cartridges, could arrive soon.

Doesn’t say 2026 here, like it matters anyway unless you are stupid enough believe all of this begun on the 07th October.

I think it's a bit disingenuous to think that Biden (or any other potential US administration for that matter) is truly free to determine US policy on Israel and the Middle East, especially as regards withdrawing US support for Israel.

Tbf AIPAC have an ungodly amount of influence in US politics. Does Biden/Harris or Trump have total control over what goes on with Israel? Probably not but if they really wanted to they could force Netanyahu to stop. However this close to an election I doubt they want to risk what would be a guaranteed election loser by telling him to stop with hostages (some of which are American) still being held.

posted on 12/9/24

In fact supposedly Trump told Netanyahu to not accept a ceasefire before the election in order to make Harris look bad

Not to sound rude, 52, but you did say you read the NYT every day... what kind of news do you look for when you go there?

@52, fwiw, you might like to mix up the news channels with some content from the late night shows. I keep tabs on Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher, who usually have a fair bit of political commentary.

They're both left-leaning, although Maher has acquired more of a mixed view in recent years and has a panel section where he invites guests from across the political spectrum. He can be annoying at times, and I disagree with a lot of his positions, but it's worth watching if you want to get a more plural view.

My favourite show is John Oliver's Last Week Tonight, which features 20-30 minute segments on very specific, generally socially-oriented topics and is generally a good laugh.

I don't know how much of those might be geo-restricted, but their content is all freely available here in Spain.

There are plenty of other late nights available on YouTube, though those are the ones I prefer. Jon Stewart is also very good, although I've lost track of him a bit recently. I just realised his wasn't one of the channels I was subscribed to, so I've just added it.

@52 - here's something recent I listened to, a little bit removed from current affairs, but which I thought pretty interesting. Jon Stewart interviews former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Informative, and a few laughs and chuckles along the way.

Sam Seder can be a bit boring. TYT is good when Anna is on.

Also there is Ring of Fire and Faron Balanced (both by the same guy). When he gets angry he is like Yosemite Sam from the Looney Tunes.

Another guy called Jesse Dollamore who uses the phrase "d!pshits" a lot (no it isn't me). The Meidas Touch network is often good, especially when they have Congressman Jared Moskwitz on.
