I'm kinda with RED on this one as people making big unsubstantiated statements like Fields have is an annoyance of mine.
What Fields is saying is kinda like blaming the credit crisis on Gordon Brown because it was on his watch and you could say he hadn't done enough to regulate the financial sector, was borrowing too much in the good times and sold off the UK gold at record low prices. The Govt of that day contributed to the crisis and the depths of its impact, just as the Govt under Boris contributed to the number of deaths amongst pensioners through their poor response.
I do not believe anyone has properly calculated what those excess OAP deaths were, but it wasnt 100% of them or anywhere near. Pensioners were still the ones dying the most when we had the tightest of restrictions in place.

I'm kinda with RED on this one as people making big unsubstantiated statements like Fields have is an annoyance of mine.
What Fields is saying is kinda like blaming the credit crisis on Gordon Brown because it was on his watch and you could say he hadn't done enough to regulate the financial sector, was borrowing too much in the good times and sold off the UK gold at record low prices. The Govt of that day contributed to the crisis and the depths of its impact, just as the Govt under Boris contributed to the number of deaths amongst pensioners through their poor response.
I do not believe anyone has properly calculated what those excess OAP deaths were, but it wasnt 100% of them or anywhere near. Pensioners were still the ones dying the most when we had the tightest of restrictions in place.
