Whether the issue is zonal marking or the formation or changing the personnel, one thing we must do is change. And it’s not just the back line. At the moment we aren’t getting the best out of players like Lemina, Gomes and Cunha and teams are able to play against us at their own pace with little pressure

The idea of Conceicao as our next manager quite appeals to me. He’s had a long spell at Porto and could do with a new challenge. My fear is that we go for someone like Moyes who could help us get out of this mess but wouldn’t be a long term solution. All depends on whether GON can have a successful November

Conceicao had an impressive record at Porto, was a decent player in his day too. Would he be persuaded to come to Wolverhampton though, he must have a few options too choose from.

Where do you get the notion that we are going to sell Andre and Joao cinci? The idea of keeping a large squad happy, is by some sort of rotation system. By doing that you would keep players less vulnerable to injuries. No good playing players if their form drops or they get tired. It would benefit the club by having such a system.

What do you think the plan is with Joao and Andre? Seems fairly obvious we bought Andre due to the deal being too good to turn down rather than a missing piece much needed. Right now Andre and Joao are both 40+ plus million players. We will rotate, but not a lot I doubt, a new guy may have a new take of course but I suspect if that happens then Lemina will be the one dropping out.

Regarding this back five that will solve everything.

.......................Johnstone
.............Bueno, Dawson, Toti
Semedo, Joao, Lemina, Andre, RAN
............Strand Larsen, Cunha

Do we think that is gonna change things and wins will come?

Fact is you have to get the best players at the club on the field. Joao, Andre and Lemina are all certainly among the best players at the club.

And for the record I really rate Doyle, he looks like the real deal to me. Just don't think we get him games right now.

I think that is our best 11 with the players currently available. Do think we need to give Lemina a settled role. Asking him to field different positions all the time is not helping him or the team. With Andre and Gomes there I suspect that would be a more forward role than he played last season

Certainly think it would be a bit sad to play 5 at the back and 3 defensive midfield players. Be nice to see us attack occasionally.

Flip, Flap, Flop……..

The way things are panning out, we'll probs revert to a back 5 and the goals for will dry up. Just go back to losing 1-0 every week.

I can't guarantee moving to a back 3 will get us more points, but we should ay least give it a go. Just a shame that our best defender is injured. Your theory of playing our best players gets torpedoed when you look at our league position.

Like I said, if you have a rotation system of sorts, you keep players fresh and possibly injury free, plus you don't have players getting frustrated by not getting any minutes.

Jack Wilson, the new set piece coach has been sacked, thrown under bus/coach?

posted on 7/10/24

Seems a wise decision. We are a shambles from set pieces, that is clear.

I think whatever happens we need to settle the midfield. As DJ said before, Lemina in particular is all over the place and that isn't gonna help him or us.

Fancy sacking the dead ball coach after we’ve conceded 5 goals from free kicks in recent games. A first sign of common sense?

In my system the width would come from Semedo and RAN, who are both better suited to the wing back role and would allow us to attack occasionally.

Lemina played ahead of Gomes and Andre which is why he was on hand to score our goal, so is not solely a “defensive midfielder” anyway.

I don't dispute it's a good decision, I was making a clumsy attempt at humour with the chucking the coach under the bus remark....

My response was just as clumsy and in the same vein. Don’t know how many hours a week we employed this guy for but it wasn’t money well spent and whatever zone he was hoping to get the players into it didn’t work

This Man City v PL court ruling sums up the situation perfectly, court rules that some of the PL rules are unlawful but that City are bending the general framework of the rules are in place.

As has been stated many times, the amateurish way that the PL go about drafting, applying and enforcing its rules on profit and sustainability is apalling. I know they're in a tough place when they look to draft these rules, influence from 20 different angles will be applied with threats from the big clubs to bend to their will or they'll start looking to a European Super League again, and the majority wanting an opportunity to be able to compete on a level playing field.

There should be greater independent regulation and oversight over the league in my view, how independent any rule maker can be though is a difficult call, they would need to listen to the clubs at some stage or else be accused of imposing change without consultation.

Either way, the sooner City are put back in their cage the better for the game in general.

Is it 115 charges they face? Even if they were found not guilty of 100 they should still face the biggest penalty we’ve seen so far

Interesting case won by Lassana Diarra this week. Seems he was sidelined by Locomotive Moscow and not paid. The ruling this week suggests the club was breaking its contract with the player and he was entitled to cancel his contract and leave for free. So any player put into a bomb squad in the future, which happened to a few Wolves players at one stage, could just go on a free transfer.

Andre has the highest successful pass rate of any player in the premier league this season at around 96%. Just ahead of two Man City players.

Understandable therefore that the decision to take him off at Brentford and replace him with Hwang wasn’t a popular decision amongst the travelling fans

I remember when the Wolves bomb squad occurred a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure they were still being paid. If that happened now can't see how they could just demand a free transfer.

I would expect that a player's contract says he has to be paid, but not that he has to play or even train with the first team.
