Seems to me like City are trying to discredit the PL rules in anticipation of the 115 charges? I think today's ruling makes total sense but I can't imagine City's approach is exactly going to sweeten relations between themselves and the PL, so I can't imagine it would be their ideal way forward. Maybe their backs are a little against the wall?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There'samy things in football that can be challenged before courts with reasonable to excellent chances of success. City just dragged this one out probably because their efforts to deal with the 115 charges aren't going very well.

The Premier League will probably just sidestep this with a few amendments to APT rules and carry on as usual.
I hope City sue the PL for damages so history can record they were the ones that opened that door.

It means that Arsenal will no longer be able to spend like drunken sailors usung money 'borrowed' off the owners.
City now have quite a few allies and will gather more amongst owners wishing to sell.
4 of the 6 clubs opposing City were strongly in favour of the ESL too.
I reckon there's a warning in there.
City were in favour if ESL too. City fans are like Tories. Everything is a half truth or a twisted lie.
Yeah like I said the ruling is fair enough, i don't disagree with any of that.
My understanding though is that City were in favour of the rule when it was initially implemented though, but now the PL are coming for them they're trying to discredit the PL and their rules, which is why I wonder if your backs are against the wall because I can't imagine this kinda action being your first choice.

No, City abstained in the initial vote. The rule changes in feb 24 is then what led them to subsequently make this legal challenge, which they said they would do even before that vote as they said they didn’t believe the changes or some of the original rules were lawful. It’s got nothing to do with the other case at all.

The clue is in the delay. This was a verdict delivered 14 days ago, one that City have been happy to publish since it arrived. The hold up has been at the Premier League’s end. Now they are trying to spin it out further. Clarifications, consultations, all the things a governing body does if it wants to fashion a tight rule book which, as Leicester City found much to their delight, isn’t the Premier League’s style at all. Why? There is another case ongoing involving Manchester City and 115 charges. So the APT decision likely impacts proceedings elsewhere. If the League can bog this down in legal process, they hope it won’t weaken their case against City yet further. The Premier League, its rulebook and executives are facing a firing squad but are now asking to inspect the guns to ensure they fit professional standards. What a shower they are.

Owner loans are an unlawful method of financial doping.
Arsenal are a financially doped club.
Matt Lawton: "Crucially, the panel deemed the rules to be unlawful, and in breach of competition law “by object”, a serious and damning infringement akin to price-fixing by cartel members."
"City, who are owned by the Abu Dhabi-backed City Football Group, had some complaints upheld, with two aspects of the associated party transaction (APT) rules deemed unlawful by a tribunal.
But the Premier League says the tribunal rejected the majority of Manchester City's challenges and "endorsed the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system".
Simon Leaf, partner and head of sport at law firm Mishcon de Reya, told BBC Sport: "Whilst the decision will be embarrassing for the Premier League, because in a couple of narrow areas their rules have been found to be unlawful, generally speaking the decision confirms that the vast majority of the APT rules are indeed lawful.
"Therefore whilst we can expect to see some changes to the rules going forwards, on the whole this isn’t a resounding victory for Manchester City by any stretch of the imagination."
