The club are absolutely stupid for not sacking him after the Villa match, we could’ve gone for Tuchel again and negotiated something more attractive for him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't Tuchel agree the England job well before then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, Tuchel had agreed on the England job before the last international break, hence the weird evasive interviews with Carsley.

To think we could he appointing Tuchel tomorrow if we had the cojones to sack Eric in May

He's England manger. How could we appoint him tomorrow? And why would we have waited until now to do it?

Don't think we'll hammer them but a solid 3-1 win

How much talk in Germany, Robbsie? A few on twatbook, 1% of the population, 50 % of the population. Give me details.

I think there was a general understanding that Ruud would probably end up in charge at some point this season.

What I hope is that Ashworth & co already know who they want to bring in and that it will be a fairly smooth process (whether that be in the next couple of weeks or later in the season).

I struggle to imagine that we've sacked ETH without a new manager lined up and ready to come in fairly quickly though. There's far too much of the season left to just roll the dice on Ruud.

Personally I'd love Nagelsmann but have no idea whether he'd want to resign as the Germany manager. Xavi is available if wants to take a job at this stage of his sabbatical. Zidane is a bit forgotten about of course...

After that you're either looking at some uninspiring names like Potter & Southgate or you're going to another club and trying to take their manager.

If nothing else it's going to be interesting to see who we go for.

This is the club statement:

"Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.

Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."

Interesting that they call Erik Ten Hag 'manager' but that it's a 'Head Coach' that will be recruited.

If Nagelsmann is the man seen as the long term future could we perhaps see a scenario where we hire Southgate for 18 months, then bring in the German after the 2026 World Cup with Southgate moving upstairs. That's an actual plan and something I could get on board with in truth.

I think that’s the case tbh, Ruud is probably gonna be interim like Ole for the rest of the season. If we appoint Allegri or someone of that ilk then INEOS are no better than Ed.

Given what Berrada has said about 2028, I think there’s a real possibility that the next permanent head coach is another interim appointment, if that makes sense.

They’ll not be looking for somebody to compete now; but rather for the best candidate to continue the evolution of our style of play, shaping and reforming the squad to be able to play a higher intensity game further up the pitch, developing the youngsters we have to be ready in two to three years time, etc.

I've heard from a few fellow United fans at the office that they reckon Dalot missed and Garnacho / Washford were intentionally missing their shots to force this.
Nonsense if you ask me! But let's hope that whoever comes in can get those misses eliminated as much as possible.

If Tuchel was passed over because he isn’t so committed to developing young players, Nagelsmann could fall foul of the same problem.

From that perspective, Xavi or Amorim might be a good choice (although Amorim would probably need a couple of wingbacks bringing in).

Maybe the club will continue to pay ETH a monthly salary as 'Manager' until his contract ends/he gets another job, instead of giving him a big pay off.

FFP at play here.

Employing someone in his place with a different job title probably allows them to do so.

That's actually quite funny. The roof has finally caved in on EtH, both metaphorically and literally! But who is the biggest loser here? We are, having to endure yet another reset. We’ll only realise the cost of this if the squad overhaul takes a different direction than what it might have under EtH, for instance.

Ideally, the squad should be shaped separately from the manager by Ashworth. Whether we've seen the beginning of that shaping this summer will be telling, especially if we add to the recruits or remove them. The deadwood was already destined to be shown the door in future windows.
