Would need some time to think about all of that, but yeah, immediately, I would probably only guess that Ineos really wouldn’t have been wanting to make the change yet. A bunch of things I think would point to that, including notably bringing Ruud in in the summer.

Sporting confirm Man Utd interest in Amorim
Manchester United are interested in appointing Sporting boss Ruben Amorim as their new manager and are willing to pay his 10m euros (£8.3m) release clause, the Portuguese club say.
The Red Devils need a new manager after sacking Erik ten Hag on Monday.
"Manchester United have expressed their interest in recruiting coach Ruben Amorim and have said they are ready to pay the 10 million euro release clause," Sporting said in a statement to the Lisbon stock exchange on Tuesday.
Amorim, 39, is a highly regarded coach who has won two Portuguese league titles with Sporting - including their first in 19 years - since joining in 2020.
United have declined to comment on the reports.
Ten Hag was dismissed after Sunday's 2-1 defeat at West Ham left the club 14th in the Premier League with just three wins from their opening nine matches.
United are also 21st of 36 teams in the Europa League table, having drawn their three opening fixtures.
More to follow.

One thing is for sure: Ineos haven’t replaced their interim man with another interim.
You don’t spend the kind of money they’re going to have to spend on releasing and paying Amorim (before we start talking about players… ), nor do you sign a coach of his profile (young, new to the country, tactically pretty uniform) as anything other than a long term project.

Part of me is pretty excited about what this is going to mean for the squad and our game: he’s going to work them facking hard; he’s going to make them press harder, run harder, so there’ll be no return to the Mou or Ole days.
But if we start getting linked with a bunch of specialist wingbacks, I’ll be very worried that Ineos have learned nothing from the Ed hire-a-head-coach-with-a-completely-different-approach-every-time Woodward days.

Hopefully the likes of Shaw, Dalot, Antony, Mazraoui can fill that void for him. I can’t say I’ve seen much of Sporting so couldn’t say that any of our players have the attributes to fulfil his idea of a wing back.

The three CBs do most of the defending in Sporting’s half, and the wingbacks’ starting position is usually way up over the halfway line.
Maybe Garnacho could do the job at a push?! He’s the only player we have who I think might be able to go straight into that Sporting side. None of our FBs are dynamic enough or consistently good enough in their final ball.

I don't expect a quick upturn in results tbh, as much as we can question ETH's tactics and man management, the players have made basic and fundamental errors all over the pitch that you cannot blame on tactics.
I expect it to take time for Amorim to get to know the squad and implement his approach, realistically a decent summer window too.

Judging by your analysis, Garnacho is probably the only one. He works hard and is more of a traditional winger, however I've always felt his best work is running in behind a defender as opposed to taking one on.
I wanted us to sign Frimpong in the summer, who sounds like he'd be perfect.

So yes, it’s going to take a lot of time.
Players in, players out, others up to speed. In the meantime, he’s going to have to work out where to draw the line in terms of meeting the squad he has to work with somewhere in the middle.
I don’t think he can have any idea what’s in store for him tbh
Another prediction: he’s going to pess a lot of people off, hard, with his team selections.

I think every manger has annoyed fans with their team selections, even going back to Fergie.
The manager needs to do what's best for him and I'm guessing that'll be breaking up the clique of egos and selecting those who buy into his philosophy. That'll be good for us long term.

Talk of Amorim coming in and managing the game against Chelsea. Seems a bit too soon surely even IF he signs in the next day or two?
At best he'd be looking at one training session and then setting himself up for a fail putting out a side against a Chelsea side who are playing well.
He'd be better off letting Ruud take the weekend game and just watch from the sideline... if only to get a good idea of just how mediocre, in terms of ability and/or attitude, some of our squad are.

If he wants to get stuck in and take the reigns, the upside is OT will be rocking and we've seen how that can affect results.

They’re like proper old-fashioned wingers. They stay wide wide wide, and do a lot of running up and down the touchline.

The thing is keeping ETH would have shielded Ineos a bit for this season. This is now their man. How they back him will be very interesting.
-----------------------------------------
If anything I think they've just opened themselves up to more criticism for not pulling the trigger in the summer and letting the rot under Ten Hag continue into a new season and bringing in players who very likely wouldn't have been brought in under the new regime.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like most of the rest of us, I think they thought that things couldn’t get any worse and that they had some time to play with to sort their long term strategy out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of the big sides are actually converting CBs into full backs these days, so yes it’ll be a good indicator.
Hopefully the likes of Shaw, Dalot, Antony, Mazraoui can fill that void for him. I can’t say I’ve seen much of Sporting so couldn’t say that any of our players have the attributes to fulfil his idea of a wing back.

Judging by your analysis, Garnacho is probably the only one. He works hard and is more of a traditional winger, however I've always felt his best work is running in behind a defender as opposed to taking one on.
I wanted us to sign Frimpong in the summer, who sounds like he'd be perfect.

Unless he completely changes his principles as well as his tactics, our squad still isn’t remotely conditioned to play any version of Amorim ball.

Hopefully, I can't make the Chelsea game and want to be there for his start lol.
If he wants to get stuck in and take the reigns, the upside is OT will be rocking and we've seen how that can affect results.
